CLASSROOM
Cable up the Garmin, Start DNR Garmin Utility and connect to the Garmin. Start the Garmin Start Simulation Open DNR Garmin Utility and Upload In this order: Lab3\1-04_Sidewalk.txt after uploading Save Track with name Sidewalk
(Note: clear the track log before loading the next track)

Lab3\1-04_ParkingLot.txt after uploading Save Track with name ParkingLot Lab3\1-26_05_Points.txt
(the points are named from the upload file)

Download the point and track data from the Garmin 76 using the DNR Garmin Utility. Save the point and tracks as shapefiles to your D:\ disk.
(Pay attention to the projection and the naming of your data as you save each download as a shapefile; Points are Points, Parking Lot is a Polygon, Sidewalk is a line.)

Print a simple map with your shapefiles. (see example)
Use data on c:\Data\ENR3031-5031\Campus_Data.

(All coordinates in UTM/UPS 15T NAD83)

Outside Start the Garmin When you get a fix Clear the Active Track Log (if it is on) GPS the sidewalk in front of Green Hall (as per the Example) Save the Track Log (with a logical name) GPS the Area south of Green Hall (as per the Example) Save the Track Log (with a logical name) GPS the Fire Hydrant (as per the Example) Name the point “Fire H”
Not required but interesting: While recording the track log for the Area, you will pass the Fire Hydrant, try stopping the Track Logging, take a average a point at the hydrant, the resume your logging of the Area

Download your Tracks; Sidewalk as a line, Triangle as a Area and the Fire Hydrant as a Point. Display your data on a map as below.
