Bringing together my background and skills to a job where those talents can be depended on. I have a hard working attitude but also want the job to be fun and rewarding as well. Skills and Experience Overview Network Security – Firewalls (Netscreen, Checkpoint 3.x/4.x/NG/NGAI/SPLAT, PIX), VPN (Netscreen, Checkpoint, Cisco and PIX), Protocol Analyzers (tcpdump, Etherpeek, Iris, Sniffer), IDS/IPS (snort, ISS Real Secure, Sentinel, Netscreen IDP), tcp/ip troubleshooting, Intrusion Analysis, Intrusion prevention, Network scanning and reporting (ISS, Retina), Network monitoring, PKI (Windows, RSA, tokens-2 factor); Security In Depth practices Design, moves/add/changes, routers (Cisco), switches (Cisco, 3com), IOS working knowledge, tcp/ip fundamentals including routing and subnets, troubleshooting Networking – System Administration – VMware Server, VMware VirtualCenter, Linux (Slackware, Redhat/CentOS), Solaris (2.62.9), Windows 2000/2003 administration, Active Directory administration and troubleshooting, Exchange administration, Windows 2003 clustering (basic SAN deployment), shell scripting, troubleshooting, basic perl, LDAP (Windows and Linux with cross-platform compatibility requirements), Citrix Metaframe security and PS troubleshooting Storage – Network Software – Network Appliance (R200 near-line storage system, 3050 higher end devices, and legacy 800 series models) including NFS, CIFS and SAN deployments Sendmail, postfix, Communigate, BIND, Windows DNS/AD, Webmin, RedHat tools (rpm, chkconfig, xinetd), raidtools, logrotate, extensive Nagios monitoring, Google mini search appliance, other admin tools Network cabling, patch panels, wiring design, T1/T3/Fiber, Fiber and comm. plant, data room needs Server/cabinet placement, management of systems, remote operations, power and cooling VMware modeling, test labs (full scale and virtual scale), scenario scripting HTML coding, application support, MySQL, back-end scripts, Apache, IIS, Basic SQL, Oracle installation and administration (basic), J2EE support including Jetty/Tomcat/Apache plugins and concepts Software/hardware (write blocking), deep analysis and reporting; basic EnCase; Linux/Windows tools (STD, and Forensic tools); data recovery; Windows data mining (live and offline); Chain of custody preparation Communications – Data Center – Testing – Web Sites – Forensics – Experience 2003-Current Eloan, Inc. Systems group engineer. Job duties include maintaining systems, VMware, Web servers, networking, firewalls, and security. I implemented and maintained the companies Checkpoint Firewall and VPN NGAI solution (multiple redundant gateways). I implemented and maintained the Netscreen IDS solution. I implemented the initial proof of concept for the VMware model being used and implemented the initial production scenario with documentation. I managed the Cisco 6509 switched backbone, including multiple IDF and fiber runs. I designed and implemented the Webroot Spysweeper Enterprise package company wide. I had to maintain constant security in-depth layers. I was called upon to constantly update our enterprise with new mail technologies, spyware blockers, virus solutions, storage solutions, server solutions, and more. I have administered the collection of Netapp storage appliances including the R200 near-line storage system, 3050 higher end devices, and legacy 800 series models. I have tested and rolled out various SAN deployments with Windows servers using the Netapp for use in Exchange, clustering and other applications. Windows 2000 and 2003 were used extensively to provide many enterprise class needs including applications, Exchange, DNS/AD, Citrix Metaframe and PS, test labs, basic storage, IIS and more. My job required me to stay on top of the Windows technology, understand how it interacted with the environment, test scenarios, and evaluate solutions for inclusion into enterprise-wide operations. This included interaction requirements between Windows, Linux, storage, and networking required cross-platform skills and troubleshooting knowledge. Mail gateway deployment was a key job, which when installed eliminated Exchange overhead for Internet mail. Anti-spam and anti-malware deployments of SpySweeper, Kaspersky, Clam, and the cross-platform design between Exchange and the external gateways shows the priority of security and network in-depth practices are important for an enterprise. Interacting with multiple groups, and coordinating responsibilities as needed I became an integral part of the engineering process and how Eloan gets the technical requirements met. We used a custom built perl help ticket system, which all engineers used to keep track of jobs. DigiMerc offers managed security services, and many other forms of professional security services to customers. My role is that of a Network Security Engineer to assist and deploy solutions for the company. Working with a team is required because of the enterprise-wide networks we get engaged on. I worked with Tele- Danmark, the largest ISP in Denmark. I was also deployed to NMCI or the Navy Marine Corps Intranet in Norfolk, Virginia. The NMCI network is a huge enterprise-wide Intranet spanning most all states in the Union with a private frame network. The Netscreen VPN solution with Global Pro management server was chosen for use as the VPN devices. My job was to successfully help install appliances, train users and other engineers on the product, and make sure the initial rollout was successful. Many disciplines were needed and a quick summarization of the network required, as I had less than a week to fully understand their environment, learn the material, train the employees, and foresee problems with the implementation. Skills used: Netscreen appliances; network troubleshooting; protocol analyzer work; customer deployment; firewall principles; Oracle SQL installation and support; hardware appliance knowledge; enterprise-wide software development on the Netscreen Global Pro software; documentation. 4/2002 Netscreen Technologies Contracting work with Netscreen to bring their technologies into SBC. SBC is a national communications company, which I worked for over 2 years. Netscreen is a major player in the security business and I saw an opportunity to bring the two companies together. I worked closely with Netscreen and SBC within a 2-year process culminating in Netscreen being offered within the SBC organization. Contract work included sales presentations, marketing insight, and technical direction for Netscreen where SBC is concerned. Working with a security group of engineers, we consult on Nokia, Checkpoint, PIX, and Netscreen firewall systems. Personally I have consulted, installed, and trouble-shooted all of these systems. I use previous knowledge and experience, and acquired on the job training to accomplish my jobs. Firewall, VPN, and security related tasks are primary among my responsibilities. Project management and focus was demanded to handle projects from beginning to end. One of the most important skills I learned on this job was to interact with so many facets of the company. As you can imagine, SBC, has quite a few organizations. SBC is like dealing with a small country, and you need to interact with all the different branches of government. Besides actual installations, I would do heavy research and documentation to support my team. I kept as current as I could on security trends, software, hardware, and security focus. I use my own networks, and servers to keep current IDS systems and look at the “real world” environment out there. I would always consider “best of breed” technology and recommend accordingly. SBC Datacomm works for a wide range of companies. I have personally worked with the CA Governors office, Banks, Law Firms, Aviation companies, Government agencies, VA Medical Center, SBC Internal projects, Internet Data centers, City government offices, CBS Studio City, LA Times, Los Angeles County, other professional firms, and much more. Skills used: Netscreen appliances; Nokia IP appliances; customer deployment of many network and security technologies; Checkpoint FW 3.x-4.x and NG FP1; Cisco routers, switches and PIX firewalls; ISS scanner and IDS software deployments; SecurID authentication; documentation; fellow technician trainer and mentor; DNS; sendmail; system administration on Solaris Unix; customer deployment around T1 and DSL circuits, including needed Cisco hardware and configurations. 11/1999 – 5/2000 Various Contract Work Contract engagements (relating to networking and security) for various firms including Media duplication, Church/School, Limo companies, Website companies, and more.
