So, I thought to compile a list of Betta fish diseases that you should aware of so that you can cure them as soon as your Betta feels sick. 5 Betta Fish Diseases That You Should Aware Of 1. Fungal Infection Fungal infection is quite common in Betta fishes. The main symptoms of a fungal infection is that your Betta will have white patches on it’s body or head. These patches exactly look like cotton being sprinkled on them. The best possible treatment is to keep your Betta in a different jar with fresh water. Do mix ‘Fungus Eliminator’ by Jungle to it. The crystals should be around 30 – 40 per half gal. 2. Body & Fin Rot Body & Fin Rot is caused because of dirty water. There are a lot of bacteria’s & harmful substances that cause this issue. The main symptoms of this disease is that the tail of the Betta starts getting shorter & may appear even dissolving. The treatment for it is to keep your Betta in a different jar with fresh water and mix Ampicillan with Fungus Eliminator. It will solve the issue within 3 – 4 weeks. Do maintain your patience. 3. Popeye Popeye, another disease that is caused by unhealthy & inappropriate water conditions. The main symptoms of Popeye is that the size of the eye of the Betta is almost doubled. It will be little weird to see your Betta with that eyes but don’t lose patience. The treatment for it is to keep your Betta in a completely new jar with fresh water & appropriate water conditions. Do mix antibiotic Ampicillan to the water. A complete capsule goes for around 10 gal, so mix according to the quantity of the water by opening the capsule. 4. Ick Ick is mainly carried by the frozen live food. The main symptoms of ick is that the Betta will have white spores on her complete body just like someone has sprinkled salt of the Betta. The treatment for it is to raise the temperature of the tank to 85 F and add a single drop of Aquarisol & salt to the water. Try to use as much safety as possible, do not end up frying your Betta in the tank. 5. Dropsy This disease is often termed as one of the fatal diseases of Betta’s. The main symptoms of this disease is bloated Betta fish and if you see from the top you will be able to see raised scales. The treatment for it is very simple.
