Ancient Egyptian Religion-To what degree did the religion
                 influence the Egyptian’s daily lives?

                               Pyramids: The pyramids were built
as burial places for the pharaohs.
                               They believed that the pharaoh
needed certain items to be placed
inside their pyramid for the afterlife. Inside
                      Egyptians would place jewelry, furniture,
statues of the gods and even food to take
                      with them to the afterlife.

Mummification: The afterlife was a very
important belief of Egyptian culture. In
order to prepare for the afterlife your body
needed to be preserved. The Egyptians
mummified their dead by embalming their
bodies. This process was very lengthy and
                      detailed.

                              Afterlife: The Egyptians believed that
after you died you went to another
                              place where you lived
another life – the afterlife. And when
people died, the Egyptians put all the
things in their tombs that they would
need in the afterlife – furniture,
                              clothes, knives, spoons, plates. Some
things, that were too big they made drawings
of – they considered that to be just as good.
These were big drawings, carved on the walls
                      of the tomb.

                            Gods and Myths: Egyptians believed
in a wide variety of gods and goddesses.
They would pray to these gods for
                            many different occasions. For example
Thoth was the god of knowledge. He
blessed the Egyptians with writing, medicine
                      and mathematics.
