					The Harbour Park 維港公園 The Harbour Park of Hong Kong will be a unique top-class sustainable park in the world, lodging on Victoria Harbour and the surrounding land and facilities of the harbour. The Harbour Park will link to transportation hubs by electrical means. In West Kowloon, The Harbour Park will occupy about 100 acres of land among which more than half is currently used as roads. The marine shelter off Yaumatei will be used as a Marine Park which will also allow normal non-polluting goods delivery sea vessels for serving Yaumatei grocery market. Electric sea vessels will run from this marine park to suitable piers in Kowloon and HK Island. The heart of the Park described below will extend to various parks of Kowloon, and to Hong Kong Island via a cable car system. This HK side terminus will loge on a small park which is connected to the East and West on HK Island along the harbour, with many polluting traffic paths covered by or redirected to covered passages for pollution control. Clean Environment is basic to the Harbour Park. Govt to begin hunt soon for cultural CEO 26-05-2009 http://www.rthk.org.hk/rthk/news/englishnews/news.htm?main&20090526&56&584274 The government will soon begin a global search for the Chief Executive Officer of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority. This was revealed by the Chief Secretary, Henry Tang, after the fifth meeting of the Board of the Authority. Mr Tang said he hoped the position could be filled by the end of the year. Synopsis West Kowloon District was originally intended for cultural activities, the presented scheme will however enrich it with many fold meaning. In June the West Kowloon authority http://www.hab.gov.hk/wkcd/index.htm is going to appoint 3 design groups to collect views of the public from July to September, to come up with 3 designs for public comment by end 2009. The presented scheme is based on an optimized sustainable approach with a very strong clean energy emphasis. In fact the presented scheme will, on top of the basic authority requirements, be enriched with lots of other provisions including Clean Environment including Electrical transportation and clean fuel use, Art and Culture, Sports, Fun and Recreation, Residence, Commerce, Hotels, Tourism, Education. which are needed to address the growing population of HK, and to strengthen the 3 legs of sustainability, namely environmental sustainability, societal sustainability, economic sustainability. Summaries of the key provisions of this sustainable scheme for West Kowloon Cultural District are tabulated below , which will be updated from time to time in the coming months.
