Website Design Specification 2 Purpose This document will outline the design of the Greene Motors website. Greene Motors Inc. has been in existence for a year and will be presenting a new automobile line comprised of the world’s first environmentally-safe cars, powered solely by water and oxygen. The website is being designed and created prior to the debut of the car to generate public interest and promote the idea of the first “green” car. Requirements The Greene Motors website will appeal to consumers, stockholders, and the media. The website must be clean, organized, and attractive to viewers while providing pertinent information to the public.    Consumers: The website will simply explain the mechanics of the car, its features, and its cost. The website will include pictures of the car and dealership locations. Stockholders: The website will have links to financial information including current earnings and future financial projections for the company. Media: The website will include detailed information about the cuttingedge technology developed by Green Motors, and miscellaneous information about the company. Design Elements It is necessary to include the following elements in the design of the Green Motors website:  Introductory page: The page will be animated using the industry-standard software, Macromedia Flash 8.0. This page will lead the viewer to the homepage. Homepage: The page will provide simple navigation to various areas of the website.  Car models page: The page will feature professional photographs showcasing different angles and models of the car.  2 Greene Motors, Inc. Website Design Specification 3  Product specification page: The page will detail technical aspects of each car model.  Financial information page: The page will list Greene Motors’ current financial information such as stock prices, financial statements.  Company page: The page will include press releases and information about the company’s non-profit actions.  FAQ: This page will include frequently asked questions about the product and the website.  Dealership Locations: this page will include a complete list of each dealership’s contact information. Research Requirements  Macromedia Flash: Further understanding of Macromedia Flash is needed to use the program to its fullest extent. Design plans for the website require better comprehension of the software to complete the design. Java Script: Incorporating Java Script into the website will make the website more interactive for the viewer. Researching Java Script codes that can be used on the site will accomplish this goal. Website Comparability: Analysis of competing companies’ websites will be needed to assess the effectiveness of Greene Motors’ website. Surveys will be given to a testing group to objectively compare our website with our competitors’.   Design Overview The purpose of Greene Motors’ website is to portray the company and the product as revolutionary and innovative. Implementation of computer devices such as Macromedia Flash 8.0, Java Script, and HTML will provide the viewer with an interactive experience. Using a consistent color scheme, the website will flow visually for the viewer. Also, it will depict the car as innovative and revolutionary. 3 Greene Motors, Inc. Website Design Specification  Introductory page: The introductory page will feature an animation designed to peak the viewer’s interest while offering the public a glimpse of the brand new Green Lightening sports car. It will also include the Greene Motors slogan, “Drive the Future.” 4  Homepage: The homepage will include links to six sub pages listed horizontally across the top of the page. Also, the corporate contact info will always be visible at the bottom of the page.  Car models page: The page will introduce the viewer to each of the three models. It will provide them with information pertaining to each model and include images.  Product specification page: With the aid of diagrams, the page will explain how the Greene Motors engine works. By detailing the inner workings of the car in terms simple enough for Greene Motors consumers, the website will reassure consumers and establish faith in our product.  Financial information page: The page will feature past and present financial information including stock prices and financial statements. Projected financial performance of stock and net profits will be outlined in this page. Also, this page will contain biographical information about the company’s executive employees.  Company Page: The page will contain links to recent and archived press releases, outline the company’s charitable actions, and will include a timeline of key company dates.  FAQ: This page will include frequently asked questions regarding the new technology components of the Greene Motors, Inc. product line. Questions will relate to concerns regarding the product’s safety, environmental impact, servicing needs, and warranty information. This page will also provide a form through which users can send questions directly to a team of certified Greene Motors, Inc. technicians.  Dealership Locations: This page will list locations, addresses, phone numbers, and hours of business for every Greene Motors, Inc. dealership nationwide. 4 Greene Motors, Inc. Flash 8 allows the user to create interactive content such as: video, graphics, and animation.
