SMYRNA WEST RECEIVES LITERACY HONOR Each year, the Read to Succeed Foundation presents one Rutherford County school with the Read to Succeed School of the Year award. This year, Smyrna West was the winning recipient. To earn this honor, Smyrna West students participated in many reading promotion activities throughout the year including the major literacy project “Literacy Matters,” a service-learning project in which the students invested their talent and many hours to complete. The campaign consisted of a rap song, a public service announcement and skit to promote literacy and the Read to Succeed organization to people of all ages.
“The students of Smyrna West have opportunities to participate in numerous literacy projects that help provide a service to the community . . .” - Sandra Pinnault Education Director Read to Succeed
