Activity
Levez le doigt- when you hear your birth month. Give each child a flashcard with a month on. Teacher calls out months at random – they raise their card when they hear it. Swap cards frequently. Display month nouns – répétez si c’est correct. Indiquez – display nouns – 2 team members compete to be first to point to noun shouted aloud by pupil or teacher. Display month nouns – give each child a month card. (must have at least 2 children with the same month) . Teacher calls out a month at random and those with same month compete to be first to call it out. same game but child with month before/after the one mentioned shouts theirs out. Song:’ Quelle est la date de ton anniversaire’ – pupils stand up when they hear the month of their birth. Give out 12 month flashcards – pupils hold up the month when they hear it in the song.(sit in a circle and occasionally stop the tape - pass on the label to the person on your left and continue. Give out the 12 month flashcards to pairs who order the months by prior knowledge and by listening to the song. 2 teams each with the 12 month flashcards (+extras of some). First team to organise themselves chronologically. Give each child a list of the months – listen to song and do a tally of how many times each song is mentioned. sing song – all sing chorus, table groups sing the sets of 3 months, children also stand up when their birth month is mentioned. Teacher or pupil mouths the month silently – teams or individuals guess which month it is. (and later, dates) Pairs ‘write’ months on back of partner who detects

noughts and crosses using months - changing grid to include all 12 months > play in pairs Games to separate months into syllables – put the segmented syllables of each month on floor. Groups of pupils chant the months, taking it in turns to ‘jump’ on the syllables as they do so jump up and down on the spot the number of times which correspond to the syllables in the months write the no. of syllables on whiteboards or clap the syllables.
