Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, March 12, 2013 -- Global Business Intelligence (BI) vendor, Yellowfin, hosted its inaugural global BI conference, Think Tank 2013, across Monday 4th and Tuesday 5th March in Melbourne Australia, with great success. “Think Tank 2013 brought together Yellowfin partners and clients, from many countries, for two tremendous days of learning, sharing and networking,” said Yellowfin CEO, Glen Rabie. “Initial feedback has been fantastic, with attendees already promising to return for Think Tank 2014.” Guest speaker and Data Quality expert for Clear Strategic IT Partners, Martin Spratt, simply commented: “great content, great organization, great vibe”. The educational forum – designed for Yellowfin end-users, clients, partners and organizations considering BI implementation – comprised over 30 best practice, use case and technical training sessions. Highlights included keynote presentations from Gartner’s Global Manager for Analytics and BI Research, Ian Bertram, and the University of Wollongong’s professor Pascal Perez. Bertram’s “State of BI” presentation focused on trends in the BI marketplace, discussed how BI vendors and consumers are responding to those developments, and outlined how organizations should be placing analytics at the center of their business to harness technology assisted decision-making. Perez’s “Saving the world with BI” presentation outlined how the SMART Infrastructure Facility at the University of Wollongong had developed the SMART Infrastructure Dashboard utilizing Yellowfin. The dashboard is designed to assist planners, designers and researchers to better understand the complex interplay of infrastructure operations and uses across major utilities. “Together, Yellowfin is helping the university provide deep insight into the environmental impact that we are having on our planet,” said Rabie. “Being able to effectively measure that impact is truly exciting. It presents us with the opportunity to change our behaviors, and the way we develop our infrastructure, to make a lasting difference.” A total of eight guest speakers presented at Think Tank 2013, covering topics from “BI in the cloud” to “Best practices for Big Data analytics”. Three sponsors supported Think Tank 2013: Actian, MIP and Prometheus Information. Yellowfin will soon make presentation materials, images and video recordings from Think Tank 2013 available for all attendees.
