Job Title: DECIPHer-ASSIST Organiser
Accountable to: 1.
This post will contribute to tackling inequalities in health through promoting and
supporting the benefits of being smoke free to groups of 12-13 year old children.
It focuses on engaging with children and schools offering them practical support
to change their behaviour to improve their health.
The post holder will co-ordinate and deliver the DECIPHer-ASSIST programme in
schools to include liaising with key stakeholders, organising and delivering the
training programme and keeping accurate training records for quality assurance
Specifically, the organiser will:

Communicate with individuals about health and health improvement.
Enable individuals to change their behaviour to improve their health.
Manage and organise their time and activities to support individuals in
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Communication & Relationship Skills
Develop & maintain effective and proactive communication links with
schools involved in the programme as well as external trainers at all times.

Planning and Organisational Skills
Establishes, administrates & coordinates termly timetables for schools
involved in the DECIPHer-ASSIST programme involving:
o communication with schools
o booking venues, catering and transport
o ensuring that all relevant systems and processes are followed and
that the associated paperwork is accurately completed
o creating and maintaining contact lists and records for each school
cycle of DECIPHer-ASSIST
o ensuring that course materials are up to date and complete at all
o recording attendance at each stage of the training
o ensuring that all evaluation is completed
Co-ordinates existing trainers to ensure that supply meets demand.
Manual dexterity required for regular keyboard work to include data inputting,
research, creating and maintaining spreadsheets, formulating presentations
and frequent word processing.
Provide advice to children in relation to smoking prevention education.
Ensure that self and external trainers have attended any required child
Current enhanced CRB certificate required.
Policy and Service
May comment on policies and procedures within own department/sphere.
Financial and Physical Responsibilities
To ensure that all documentation relating to the DECIPHer-ASSIST
programme including expenditure is processed in line with agreed
procurement procedures and regulations.
To record expenditure against the DECIPHer-ASSIST budget.
To take responsibility for raising and tracking requisition
Identifying training requirements.
Delivering training to a mixed ability audience.
Devising a training time-table and managing the rollout of DECIPHer-ASSIST.
Cascading any changes/new requirements relating to the DECIPHer- ASSIST
programme to trainers and, where applicable, schools.
Responsible for creating and maintaining central records for all DECIPHer-
ASSIST training events.

Research & Development
Complete all evaluations as requested by DECIPHer IMPACT as part of the
ongoing evaluation of the DECIPHer-ASSIST programme.
Ensure that external trainers complete evaluations where necessary.
Freedom to Act
Required to manage own workload and use initiative when urgent tasks arise,
re-prioritising work where necessary.
There is an ongoing requirement to exert moderate physical effort working
actively with groups of young people for prolonged periods.
Office conditions when not working with schools (approx 30% of time).
Required to organise training venue layout and equipment (furniture
movement & audio/visual set-up).
There is a frequent requirement for intense concentration combined with
proactive engagement with the subject.
Work with and manage challenging behaviour using a range of techniques.
Identify emotional issues and adapt training approach to suit.
