Arizona State: UCLA interim head coach Mike Johnson is a candidate to join the Arizona State
staff.  The LA Times says Johnson has been contacted, but does not currently have an offer.

Columbia: Central Connecticut State defensive coordinator Kevin Lempa has accepted the
defensive coordinator job.  Ben McDaniels will serve as the offensive coordinator.  Ed Argast
will remain as offensive coordinator.  Arizona State defenisve grad assistant Alvin Smith
accepted the defensive line job.  United States Merchant Marine Academy offensive coordinator
Chad Nice accepted the running backs job.  John Cavalier will remain as the director of football

Kenyon College: Lycoming offensive coordinator Chris Monfiletto has accepted the head
coaching job at Kenyon College.

Indianapolis Colts: writer Don Banks could see former Texas A&M head coach Mike
Sherman landing the Colts job if Jim Caldwell is released.

Houston: Tony Levine has hired Reliant Park director of operations Chris Pezman as associate
AD for football operations. He replaces Justin Moore, who joined Kevin Sumlin's staff at Texas

UMASS: I have learned that Purdue linebackers coach Phil Elmassian has accepted the
defensive coordinator position under Charley Molnar at UMASS.

Florida State: Jimbo Fisher has received a 1-year contract extension through 2016.

Urban Meyer: Meyer tells the New York Times, "You can't function in today's era of college
football without a superstar as a weight coach." In addition to Mickey Mariotti, Ohio State will
have four full-time assistant strength coaches for football only.

Fordham: I have learned that Fordham head coach Joe Moorhead has hired Bryant University
offensive line coach Joel Rodriguez as offensive line coach.

Ole Miss: It is still a possibility that Hugh Freeze will retain running backs coach Derrick Nix.

NY Jets: There is a report that offensive line coach Bill Callahan has turned down a contract
extension offer, which will allow him to look elsewhere for another offensive line job or
coordinator position.

Penn State: Fox 29 in Philly is reporting Penn State is interested in Eric Mangini.  PFT reports
no direct contact has been made with Mangini, but there is interest from Penn State.

Akron: Terry Bowden agreed to a 5-year contract with a base salary of $300,000.  Bowden will
receive an additional $50,000 for media appearances and $25,000 for apparel contracts.  He
will receive a $6,000 country club membership and up to $10,000 in moving expenses.

Washington State: There is speculation that Mike Leach is targeting LA Tech defensive
coordinator Tommy Spangler for the same position.  Spangler is close with Washington State
special teams coordinator Eric Russell, but look for Spangler to remain in Ruston.

Louisville: Don't be surprised to see Charlie Strong make a run at LSU wide receivers /
passing game coordinator Billy Gonzales.

Florida Atlantic: I am hearing that Montana State offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach

Brian Wright has accepted the offensive coordinator / quarterbacks job at Florida Atlantic.

North Carolina: Tom Myslinski will be retained as head strength coach.

Jamestown College: Head coach Bud Etzold has resigned.

Idaho: I am hearing former Washington State wide receivers coach is a candidate for the Idaho
offensive coordinator job.
