Title: Family Services Supervisor

Job Summary:
Assists the Director of Adoption with administrative tasks related to the Adoption, Pregnancy,
ECHO, FAKT, and Foster Parent Support programs.

Major Responsibilities:
  1. Provides a range of assessment, service linkage, case management and client care
      services to clients receiving services in the adoption and pregnancy programs.
  2. Must be knowledgeable of Indiana Child Welfare Act, Multiethnic Placement Act,
      Interstate Compact for the Placement of Children and Federal Adoption Assistance
      Program and the Hague Convention for international adoption.
  3. Provides direct services to clients in the areas of planning, goal setting, goal attainment,
      relationship building, problem solving, decision-making, etc.
  4. Works with program staff to ensure the provision of comprehensive, high quality, and
      professional care work.
  5. Develops, recommends and implements program policies and procedures.
  6. Provides training and support to designated staff and volunteers as needed.
  7. Consults with staff in the area of case consultations and recommendations.
  8. Conducts home visits.
  9. Develops and maintains liaison relationships with other internal and external service
      providers to coordinate client services. Networks collaboratively with community human
      services agencies.
  10. Schedules and coordinates referral services for clients with other agency personnel and
      community resources, as appropriate.
  11. Participates in staff conferences and coordinates case plans to ensure continuity of client
      services.
  12. Provides client advocacy services when necessary.
  13. Prepares necessary court reports, family assessments, and case plans.
  14. Participates in necessary court hearings.
  15. Provides support, supervision and aftercare services to families involved in the adoption,
      pregnancy services program.
  16. Compiles necessary legal information. Maintains current knowledge about legal,
      regulatory, policy and procedure requirements.
  17. Networks with and provides education and information in the community regarding
      program services.
  18. Plans and implements a youth education program that focuses on parenting simulation,
      goal setting and abstinence education.
  19. Assist with performance and quality improvement (PQI) as directed by Executive Team
      and Council on Accreditation (COA).
  20. Provides specialized support services in the areas of crisis pregnancy, post abortion
      syndrome, post partum mood and anxiety disorders, and pregnancy and infancy loss.


   21. Participates in educational and training activities to remain current on adoption trends and
       practices.

Working Relationships:
            *Reports to:              Executive Director/Adoption Director
            *Supervises:              Pregnancy Adoption Specialists, ECHO Case Manager,
                                      Home Study Specialist, Foster Family Support Services
                                      Coordinator and FAKT Coordinator.
               *Classification:       Regular, Exempt

Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or related field from an accredited
college or university, and at least one to three years of related experience. Specialized training in
adoption law, loss and grief counseling, negotiation skills and special needs. Ability to work
independently and effectively to provide services with limited supervision. Excellent written and
oral communication skills. Proficient in Internet, spreadsheet, word processing, and e-mail
applications (prefer Microsoft Office). Ability to travel in the State of Indiana. Valid driver’s
license with a clean driving record, automobile in good working condition, and automobile
insurance with liability coverage of $100,000/$300,000.

Physical Requirements:
Sight, hearing, speech, mobility, ability to negotiate steps in order to make home visits to client
familes. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. as needed.


Salary Range:          $37,179 - $56,900 FT Master’s Degree Supervisor
                       $17.87- $27.36 Hourly PT Non Exempt
