obs and asymmetric lengths remain a hot look this winter and are the perfect way to dramatically change your style. The focus on this haircut is the fringe, as demonstrated on the Yves Saint Laurent catwalk, where full, fat blunt cuts were abundant. The look is big, bold and brash.

While cropped hairstyles à la Katie Holmes continue to win over the hearts of the truly fashion forward, long hair, when cut and layered correctly, is not to be underestimated as a formidable trend this season. The key is high shine and volume. Add a bit of oomph to long hair by creating 1940s waves with a side part, as seen at Proenza Schouler and Tuleh.
This season’s hair color palette is the most natural we’ve seen in years. Exaggerated colors and chunky streaks are fleeting to make way for clear, glossy, bright hues that enhance natural highlights. Think bold basic colors such as chestnut, plum and strawberry blonde.

Purple POWER

A majestic color is hitting the streets—and the salons.

It was Cleopatra’s favorite and has long been a symbol of royalty and nobility. But this season, purple has found its place in the worlds of beauty and fashion in a way that speaks to the masses. The catwalks showed purple in all its many incarnations – from eggplant to lavender – in dresses, coats and everything in between. Nails get the royal treatment this season in plum and violet, while the smoky eye also goes for a modern twist. As a fashion statement or an accent color, pick your purple and revel in its glory!

According to a survey conducted by Wella Professionals, 47% of women don’t know the difference between, semi, demi and permanent color. Semi-permanent haircolor deposits color on top of the hair shaft without lightening it
and can last one to three weeks. This category is ideal for hair that is damaged and fragile or for those who prefer not to be married to their haircolor.

Permanent haircolor opens the cuticle so the tint can penetrate deep into the hair shaft, and alters or lightens the hair as desired. This is the best choice for grey coverage. Permanent color will not fade and lasts until hair grows out so it’s important to discuss the reasons to use this method with your colorist.

Demi-permanent haircolor deposits color into the hair shaft without lifting the natural pigment, and can last four to six weeks. They are great for toning pre-lightened hair but are no as effective on dark tresses.
