					Make-up Artists Show Competition Category Rules & Regulations
High Fashion Make-up 2 hours Theme – Silent Film Registration is from 10am. The competition will begin at 11am on Sunday 4 October and entrants have 2 hours to complete the make up. Hair may be set, but no other work may be done prior to the competition. Hair must be styled and dressed within the competition time. Model should be dressed in a costume that reflects the theme (this can be bought and does not have to be made by the competitor). Fantasy makeup is not permitted. Full Body Make-up - Airbrush 2 Hours Theme – Irish Myths & Legends Registration is at 10am. The competition start at 12pm on Sunday 4 October and entrants have 2 hours to complete the make up. No work can be done prior to the event. Make-up must be applied to the entire body. Competitors must provide their own airbrushing equipment. Use of prosthetics is not permitted. Wigs/head-dresses may be used but must not cover more than ¼ of the head. Any costume used must have been made by the competitor (not shop bought) and must cover no more than one third of the body. Props may be used which should complement the theme but theme must not be dependent on them. Full Body Make-up – Sponge or Brush Painting 3 Hours Theme – Irish Myths & Legends Registration is at 10am. The competition start at 11am on Sunday 5 October and entrants have 3 hours to complete the make up. No work can be done prior to the event. Make-up must be applied to the entire body. Use of prosthetics is not permitted. Wigs/head-dresses may be used but must not cover more than ¼ of the head. Airbrushing is not allowed. The competition will begin at 12.00pm on Monday 5 October and entrants have 2 hours to complete the make up. Hair may be set, but no other work may be done prior to the competition. Hair must be styled and dressed within the competition time. Model should be dressed in an appropriate outfit (this can be bought and does not have to be made by the competitor). Fantasy makeup is not permitted.

Head & Neck/SFX Make-up 2 hours Theme – Futuristic Registration is at 10am. The competition will start at 11.00am on Monday 5 October and entrants have 2 hours to complete the make up. No work can be done prior to the event with the exception of the fitting of bald caps (if being used). Make-up should be applied to head and neck only (not shoulders). Latex/prosthetics may be used. Wigs/head-dresses may be used but must not cover more than ¼ of the head. No templates may be used. Models should wear plain, preferably black, t-shirts with no logos or slogans. General Rules (applicable to all four categories): Competitors must provide their own model. Models must be 18 years of age or over. Only one competitor permitted per model. No food or drink (except water) may be brought into the competition arena. Mobile phones must be switched off at all times. No photos/pictures may be used to refer to. No unauthorised photography is allowed while the competition is taking place. Competitors should be dressed professionally, but outfit should not display college or business name. If the make up, including hair and costume is not complete at the end of the competition, the makeup and total look will be judged as it stands. The judges’ decisions are final. Anyone not following the rules & regulations as set out here may be disqualified, and will not be advised until after the event. B.I.T.E. 09 & Expo Events Ltd reserve the right to use photographs of the competition/competitors for marketing/publicity purposes. Competition timings are not definitive and may change. Marking Criteria Competitors will be judged across the following criteria: Interpretation of theme Design/colour/use of materials Professionalism Application technique Overall effect (of finished product) A minimum of 0 and maximum of 4 marks will be awarded for each of these criteria.
