Swimwear Designer/Inventor Carol Wior Revolutionizes Swimwear Industry As Her Patented “Slimsuit” Success Continues !
Carol Wior launched into a multi-million-dollar business in the garment industry 22 years ago with three sewing machines and $77.00 in her parents garage in Arcadia, California. Today her highly stylized, revolutionary and patented Carol Wior patented "SLIMSUIT"® has rocketed to the top the swimwear business to become the new standard for mature women. Her company manufactures more than one million swimsuits a year. Carol's entrepreneurial tenacity has resulted in her becoming one of only 4 per cent of women in the United States who has obtained a patent -- for her Carol Wior patented "Slimsuit"® invention. The other 96 percent are men, of course. With a love for the fashion industry, Carol always wanted to open a boutique which is how she ended up in manufacturing. But a tight cash flow caused frustration and delays. One day she remembers going into a garment factory and heard the sound of roaring machines. It was music to her ears. That was the day she found her niche. The intrigue of taking a small piece of fabric and turning it into a stylish design for women to wear was exciting. Taking it step by step from design to manufacturing to shipping and out the door. Then to see your designs on the racks at the mall . . . "Wow! What a feeling!"
2/Carol Wior Bio In the early years, Carol had her daughter Niki with her. She was a single Mom and even brought her along to meetings with buyers. It was tough, but over a six-year period from age 23-29, she did quite well making and selling simple caftans. Shortly thereafter, she started making dresses and dabbling in swimwear. Cash was so tight she even converted an old milk truck into a van and personally delivered her dresses. But it is her invention of the Carol Wior patented "Slimsuit" that has revolutionized and raised eyebrows throughout the entire swimwear industry. Her idea was borne when she was on vacation in Hawaii feeling very uncomfortable in the swimsuit she was wearing. She was pulling and tugging on her swimsuit and noticed other women doing the same. She was frustrated as her bust kept falling out of the sides of the suit. Carol was trying to hold in her stomach and every time she moved her swimsuit would ride up in the back. Upon returning home, Carol designed hundreds and hundreds of prototypes and drove her staff crazy. Finally, the Carol Wior patented "Slimsuit"® was created. It's a highly engineered one piece swimsuit that it takes an inch or more off the waist and stomach and lifts the buttocks too. Hidden underwires in the bust area enhance the smaller bustline and offer support for larger busted women. The secret to Carol Wior's patented "Slimsuit"® is her special inner construction which envelopes the entire body to shape, hold and smooth out all little bulges. "It's not a panel front. That's easy to do and feels like wearing half a bandage," Carol notes. "My inside construction goes all the way around the body connecting to hidden underwires, so that it really does slim and support. It's not a gimmick." To further help customers, the Carol Wior patented "Slimsuit" features a hang tag explaining how to put on the swimsuit to achieve the maximum benefits. The "Slimsuit" is sold with a tape measure to prove that customers can actually see the measurable difference ! It took Carol more than two years to refine and perfect the overall design. Other swimsuit manufacturers have tried to capitalize on Carol's success. "My concern is that unless someone infringes on my patent, other companies can only produce poor imitations which confuse the customer," she states.
