TEAM INFORMATION
• • • • athletes will compete in several races consisting of GIANT SLALOM (ski and board) and SLALOM (ski only) you do NOT need any race experience, but athletes MUST be able to ski / board at an intermediate/advanced level athletes must have their own equipment (skiis, boots, board, poles) + a helmet that has hard shell and full ear protection there are TWO levels that alpine ski / board athletes compete in: a) Level 1: School trained athletes only. These skiers / boarders have no past or present race experience beyond Nancy Greene level or equivalent (ie. K1, K2, J1, J2, Mackenzie, Hershey etc.) b) Level 2: Race Program trained athletes. These skiers / boarders have National Points or have race experience beyond Nancy Greene level or equivalent (ie. K1, K2, J1, J2, Mackenzie, Hershey etc.) A / B/ C teams will be made for each level (Boys and Girls) of FIVE athletes per team. Athletes will be seeded according to race results, commitment and attitude. ski races will be all day and bus will depart from Markville. Departure times will be approximately 5:45am as we must arrive in Collingwood by 8:00 am. Approximate return to Markville is around 5:30 pm (dependent on weather conditions) Some athletes may choose to become a gatekeeper for the race season. Gatekeepers have specific responsibilities on the race course (1/2 day) and can then free ski / board for the remainder of the day. There will be TWO MANDATORY dryland practices that athletes must attend. Forms and money will only be collected at these practices. Athletes should come dressed to go outside (hat, gloves, jacket, sweats etc.)

Athletes must qualify at YRAA Championships for Alpine OFSAA Provincial Championships: 1) OFSAA ALPINE SKI CHAMPIOSHIPS: SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 22 – TUESDAY FEBRUARY 24, 2009 2) OFSAA ALPINE BOARD CHAMPIONSHIPS: WEDNESDAY, MARCH 4, 2009

*No refunds for bus fees or for entry fees already committed. Athletes must attend the dryland practices to attend races. If you quit the team or are unable to attend a race(s) you will only be returned lift ticket money and any remaining entry fees. *Athletes who can get TICKET EXCHANGES for Horseshoe Valley, Mount St. Louis Moonstone, Georgian Peaks or Beaver Valley, please subtract $25 for each applicable event. Gatekeeper fee is $200.
