Alpine Ski & Snowboard Club, Inc.
Bulletin Board Sign Up Instructions
This is the instructions for setting up a Yahoo account and getting access to the Alpine Ski & Snowboard Club Bulletin Board. It can be a great tool for the purpose of getting together with your fellow members on “short notice” type Ski Trips or other similar events. So take 5 minutes and get hooked up. 1. Use the following web address or hyperlink to get you started: http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/alpineskiandsnowboardclubinc/ It will take you to a screen like the one below.
On the right side of the screen is a blue button labeled “Join This Group”. Left click on this button and the screen below will open.
If you already have a Yahoo account you can skip ahead, otherwise follow these instructions. 2/3rds of the way down this screen is a line of text that reads “Don’t have a Yahoo: ID? Signing up is easy”. Next to it is blue text that reads “Sign Up”. Left click on the text and the screen below will open. On this page you will have to fill in your own information. Name, gender, birthday, zip code and then probably the trickiest part, you have to choose a User ID. It should be something you can easily remember. I recommend the first part of your e-mail address. You know, that text that comes before the @ symbol. This doesn’t always work if someone else already has used your name. In that case Yahoo will suggest several similar IDs or you can try thing of you own choosing until you find one that is available. Next pick a password.
Now scroll down and enter your usual e-mail address where it says alternate e-mail. Pick a security question and answer, type in the security code and check the box to agree to the terms and conditions. When that is done left click on the tan button labeled “Create My Account”. Your most of the way there.
The next screen should look a lot like the one below. You can print this info out in case you forget your user ID. Then after printing, left click on the tan button labeled “Continue”
The next screen will look like the one below. In the section “Comment to Owner” type Your Name and the word “Member” then under step 2. Message Delivery I suggest “Daily Digest”. Step 3. select “Full Featured” then fill in the security text and left click on the button labeled “Join”.
There is a little more that you need to do so that people can tell who they are communicating with. Currently all that will be displayed is your Yahoo user ID. Now you need to edit your profile so the membership coordinator and everyone else know who you are. You may have been able to enter your “Real Name” in step 1. above, if so great, but I was not able to make it work so I will describe another way to ‘Get-er-Done”
Next to the YAHOO GROUPS logo is a welcome and your user ID. Just below that is blue text that reads “Sign Out, My Account”. Left click on “My Account”. A screen like the one below will appear. Confirm your password and left click the button labeled “Sign in”
The next screen should be similar to the one below. On the right hand side top of this screen is a column labeled Public Information and in that column just under your user ID is Blue Text reading “Edit/Create Profiles”. You need to left click on this text.
The next screen should be similar to the one below. On this screen you need to put the cursor on blue text next to your user ID that reads “Edit” and left click. Don’t click on the button that reads “Create New Public Profile” (like I did). It takes you down the wrong path.
The next screen is where you will enter your “Real Name” This will be how other club members will know who is posting to the Bulletin Board. On this screen you will left click on the blue text that reads “Edit Profile Information”.
The next screen to open should resemble the one below. Fill in your Real Name and scroll down and left click on the button labeled “Save Changes”. Finally, you’re done.
Soon after the membership coordinator checks their email you should be approved and able to start using the Bulletin Board. Good Skiing & Riding
