and State! It might surprise you to learn that our forefathers grappled with its
meaning as well. Dr. Jared Farley, assistant professor of political science, will
discuss the original purposes and history behind the No Establishment Clause of
the US Constitution.  As part of the First Amendment, the No

Establishment Clause was purposefully made vague. His presentation scheduled
for Thursday, September 16, at 7 p.m. in the Elson Hall Auditorium will focus on
the intentions and disagreements of the First Congress.

Wednesday, September 22, 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. – learn about new course
offerings and major curriculum; get involved on campus with student, campus

and get FREE stuff – giveaways – lunch, Visa gift card raffle and more!

3)      Charlie Chaplin Wants You!! 

Charlie in the Heartland: An International Charlie Chaplin Conference is seeking
student volunteers.  If you have at least 5 hours to offer the conference in
some capacity and are available sometime Thursday, October 28 through
October 30, please consider offering your capabilities.  Volunteering
makes great resume material!

 

Charlie in the Heartland will be holding two informational sessions for people
interested in volunteering:  Wednesday, September 15 from Noon to 1PM
at the conference table inside the Elson 170L office suite and Thursday 5-6PM
same place. 



Come by and sign up to welcome Charlie Chaplin scholars from 10 countries and
the USA as they discuss all things Chaplin.  Or, if you can’t make the
meetings and/or have questions, email Dr. Stein at stein@ohio.edu.

Detective Work, September 22, 12-1p

Detective Steve Welker  of the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Department
will present CSI, Sherlock Holmes and the Truth about Detective Work 
on  Wednesday, September 22, from noon-1pm in Elson 189. Anyone
interested in Criminal Justice is invited to attend this free informational session.

On Monday, October 4, from noon-1pm in Elson W110, Associate Warden Brian
Wittrup – Chillicothe Correctional Institution will present “From the Classroom to
the Yard” a look at corrections work. Anyone interested in Criminal Justice is

6)      Interested in playing basketball?

Coach Josh Riley invites anyone interested in playing for the OU Zanesville
Tracers to contact him at rileyj1@ohio.edu  or fill out an “athletic interest
form” in Student Services, Elson Hall. Games begin November 20. Lady Tracers
begin open gym time on September 28 from 3p-5p in the Littick Hall Gym. Open
Gym for October will be Mondays and Tuesdays from 3p-5p!

A FREE flu vaccine clinic will be held on 10-7-10 from 11AM-3PM in Campus
Center Room 430. This shot protects against BOTH Seasonal and H1N1 Flu.
