                 Applications are invited for the following post:

   Lecturer (Fixed Term, Half Time) in Cardiovascular Studies – Sligo
                           Medical Academy

The post holder will undertake undergraduate clinical teaching, examination
and research in Cardiovascular Studies, at Sligo Medical Academy.

Applicants will be expected to coordinate teaching and delivery of the
undergraduate Paediatric curriculum in line with course delivery at NUIG. The
lecturer in Cardiovascular Studies at the Sligo academy will be an integral
component of the teaching team, responsible for coordinating teaching
activities including, small group teaching, seminars, case presentations,
bedside tutorials, lectures, field trips, etc. including timetabling of events at the
Sligo academy. Participation in assessment and provision of feedback,
formative and summative, are also key responsibilities of the post. The
applicant will also have a key input into the examination process (organisation
and delivery) and liaise closely with the academic team at NUI Galway re
course content, delivery and assessment.

Applicants will be expected to actively participate in research. Formation of
research collaborations with       other academic departments and clinical
staff as appropriate. Supervision of research with undergraduate   and
postgraduate students.

Applicants will be expected to perform anticipated administration activities
such as, course timetabling,      student    rostering,   supervising      and
organising examination delivery, student queries/feedback, student support
etc. General departmental administration included; responsibility for leading /
managing specific modules.

The successful applicant should have:

      Medical degree or equivalent.
      At least 1 year’s experience in clinical Cardiovascular.
      Have broad clinical and teaching experience.
      Excellent organisational and communication skills.

The appointment is effective from the 9th July 2012 to 8th July 2013.

Salary:       €36,230 - €51,104 p.a. pro rata (Post Jan 2011 entrants)
              €40,256 - €56,782 p.a. pro rata (applicable to new entrants
              effective from January 2011)

Salary will be determined according to the Government’s pay policy.
