Performs general daily store operations. Uses effective customer relations and sales skills. Identifies automotive and truck parts and related systems. Locates and utilizes data sources (including individual parts serial numbers, DOT vehicle specifications, computer sources, and manuals) for vehicle identification. Selects and uses proper tools for minor automotive troubleshooting relating to parts sales. Utilizes proper paper and electronic cataloging skills. Demonstrates inventory management skills. Uses merchandising skills to prepare promotional campaigns. Communicates at a professional level with customers, suppliers, and supervisors. Locates, communicates with, and orders from warehouses and manufacturers.
The Success Skills and Program Outcomes combine to form a single set of skills, behaviors, and attitudes determined desirable for entry-level practitioners in Auto Part Management, for graduates transferring to four-year institutions, and for educated citizens.

Criteria for Assessing Student Academic Achievement

The aggregate score for each document processed and included in the Student Business Documents Portfolio in the course Automotive Parts, Systems, and Procedures (AU 151 ) will be 3.5 or higher (on a 5-point scale), indicating satisfactory or better completion.
Note: This criterion measures Success Skill #1 and Program Outcomes #4, 6 & 7.
(Note: As part of the course Automotive Parts Systems and Procedures (AU 151), each student is required to build a personal student portfolio of documents similar to those used in the parts industry.) Analysis of data: The overall aggregate score for each document processed and included in the student business documents portfolio evaluated by the instructor was 4.30 exceeding the goal of 3.5 (on a 5-point scale). In addition, each of the individual skill aggregates exceeded the goal.
For the previous reporting year, the overall aggregate score for each document processed and included in the Student Business Documents Portfolio evaluated by the instructor was 4.58 exceeding the goal of 3.5 (on a 5-point scale). In addition, each of the individual aggregates for each skill exceeded the goal (see IP0506 page 3).

Analysis of data: The overall aggregate score for each skill tested in the Engineering Measurement Skills course evaluated by the instructor was 4.35 exceeding the goal of 3.5 (on a 5-point scale). In addition, each of the individual aggregates for each skill exceeded the goal.
For the previous reporting year, students exceeded goal of 3.5 by only .1 with a score of 2.5 in criterion 6 which did not meet goal (see IP0506, page 4).

No student sat for the exam, therefore no evaluation is possible.
Last year, all (100%) of the students sitting for the Auto Service Excellence Parts Specialist Certification Test (ASE) passed on the first attempt exceeding the fifty percent goal.

On a mock certification exam in the course ASE Certification Prep I (AU 119), fifty percent (50%) of the students will score no lower than 75% on the exam. Additionally, the aggregate score for each skill area tested will be 3.5 or higher (on a 5-point scale) indicating above average to excellent performance.

Analysis of data: Twenty-three of the twenty-eight students sitting for the mock ASE Certification Prep successfully passed the test with an overall aggregate score of 82.1, exceeding the goal of 75%.
For the previous reporting period, ten of the twelve students sitting for the mock ASE Certification Prep successfully passed the test with an overall aggregate score of 83.3, exceeding the goal of 75%.
