2007 bios:
Doris (Goodman) Brosz I went the University of Northern Iowa for a Middle School Education Degree. I
moved to Houston Texas in 1987 and taught 6th and 7th grade math for 2 years. I then moved to Wichita Kansas
to teach 8th grade science. I married Mark Brosz 14 years ago and we have two children John and Elizabeth 10 & 8.
I quit teaching and have stayed home with the kids until just recently when I started substitute teaching in the
Andover school district. We presently live in Andover Kansas just outside of Wichita.

Jeff Knutson, & Karen Praska: Jeff and Karen live in Saude, Iowa. Married in 1996, have twin boys age 7
Jared and Jacob. Jeff has worked at Featherlite in Cresco for 10 years and Karen has worked at Donaldson's
for 17 years.

Julie Stevens I moved to Mesa, Arizona in 1986 and then moved to Prescott Valley, Arizona in 1998.

Melanie (Quinn) Erion After graduation, I worked at Harrison's dime store (remember that?) and managed The
Cresco Theatre. In 1987, I was hired at Donaldson Company where I am currently employed. I married Arnie
Stockdale in 1989 but we divorced in 1995. (Not to worry, we have an excellent relationship, just couldn't live
together I guess.) We have 2 sons, Anthony is 16, and Brian will be 15 in September. In July of 2005, I married
Gale Erion from Alta Vista. He is a maintenance technician for Hupp Toyota Forklifts out of Cedar Rapids and
manages the Northeast territory of Iowa and also Southern Minnesota. He has 5 children: Chrissy is 27 and lives
in Florida. Andrea is 24 and also lives in Florida. Shelly is in Chicago and is 22. Nicholas 17, and Janelle, 15, are
still here at home. They live with their mother in New Hampton. Currently, we have the home here in Cresco
and the farm by Alta Vista. After my son Brian graduates, we'll sell the house in Cresco and make the farm our
permanent home. I didn't want my boys to have to change school districts this late in the game. It's working really
well but it will sure be nice to get down to one house. I have so many great memories of high school it's hard to
chose a favorite. My senior year at Notre Dame was the best of all of them. Sorry we can't be at the reunion. My
husband and I will be at the NASCAR race at Chicagoland Speedway (GO TONY STEWART). Hope everyone
and their families are doing well. From our family to yours, take care and God Bless! Melanie (Quinn) Erion

Rhonda Lloyd Klasson: 25 years! I could write a book, but don't worry-here's the short version: After
graduation, I moved to Cedar Rapids to go to Kirkwood Community College for computer programming. I
dropped out after the first year. I worked as a waitress, bartender, secretary/gopher at Elmcrest Country Club,
then as an optician until I got married to Mike O'Brien of Dixon, IL in '87. I stayed at home with our 2 daughters,
Amanda and Megan, until we divorced in '92. Back to Kirkwood I went. After obtaining my Medical Assistant
degree, I worked for an Internal Medicine practice in CR for six years. During that time, I continued classes at
Kirkwood and finished the LPN program. In 2001, I started working for United Heart Associates, a new
cardiology clinic in CR. Two years later I finished the RN program, again at Kirkwood. I worked at United Heart
until last year when I accepted a part-time position in the Nassif Heart Center at St. Luke's Hospital. This part-
time position has allowed me to pursue my first love -- horses.

My husband, David, and I own and operate a horse boarding facility called Otter Creek Stables just north of CR.
We have four horses of our own and can board up to 20 others at this time. The farm is a work in progress.
Although we spend a fair amount of time caring for the horses, baling hay and maintaining the property, we still
manage to find time to go trail riding with our friends. I met David in '98. A mutual friend got us together. He
wanted to learn how to ride horses and I had an extra horse, so we met and have been together ever since. Even
though we have been together for nine years, we finally found time to get married last year. We tied the knot in
CR, and then spent our honeymoon on horseback in the mountains near Bozeman Montana.
It has been an interesting 25 years. I have had some good times, some bad times, good relationships and some
very bad ones. I've lost some dear friends and gained others. I am a two-time cancer survivor, so every day that I
wake up is a good day. I feel very blessed to have a loving husband, 2 beautiful daughters, a wonderful step-
daughter, parents that are alive and doing well, and many friends and family to enjoy.

Lisa Riha Mayberry: For the past 20 years I have lived in Ames; the last 17 of which I have worked at Iowa State
University. I received my business degree from William Penn University in 2000 and have since been the
administrative assistant to the Department Chair of Agronomy – Crop and Soil Science. I have three children,
Melissa is 21, Christopher is 17, and Nick is 13. I enjoy traveling, especially to warm climates, reading, and
attending my kids’ sports/school events. Lisa Mayberry, Department of Agronomy, 2101 Agronomy Hall, Iowa
State University, Ames, IA 50011, 515-294-7636

Laurie (Brookins) Cross Following graduation, I attended Wheaton College in Illinois where I earned my
Bachelor of Music Education degree. Michael Mlinar and I married in 1985 and moved to the Twin Cities where I
have lived ever since. I attended Augsburg College to earn my K-6 elementary education major and began
working in the Osseo School District teaching first grade. My twin daughters, Abby and Bethany were born in
1990. I also completed my Masters degree from the University of St. Thomas that year. After my son Nathaniel
was born in 1995, I resigned from teaching and had the privilege of being home with my children for a number of
years; during which time I home-schooled, directed our church choir, and taught private flute & piano lessons.
Michael and I divorced in 2000 and I began teaching first grade again, now in the Robbinsdale School District. I
married Terry Cross in 2002 and gained three step-children. Terry and I live in Plymouth where we are very
involved with our church and our children's busy lives. The kids consist of four girls (19, 16, 16, and 12) and two
boys (16 and 12). Hobbies? Well, believe it or not I'm actually a runner now and love to work out. I sing and
play my flute often and love to read, write, bake and scrapbook. I enjoy bed & breakfasts and camping, antique-
ing and the Minnesota Twins! I try to golf and knit, but my friends laugh at me.

Mark Burke: After graduating, I went to auto and diesel school in Des Moines. I worked at a truck shop for
awhile, then came back to Cresco and worked at Featherlite and other trailer plants. I also drove Semi and
farmed full time with my wife Becky until 1992. Both my wife and I have our Real Estate license. Becky is also an
Appraiser and we own Burke Real Estate in Cresco. I am the Broker and sell mainly Farms and Farm
Management in an 80 mile radius. We also started a company called Stoneage Enterprises located 5 miles west of
Cresco on Hwy 9 West. This company sells and installs Decorative landscape block and rock, and recycles
shipping pallets amongst other things. Becky and I have identical twin daughters Abbie and Allie. They are now
7 yrs old and a ball of fun. We enjoy camping, fishing, traveling, (any outdoors activities), and spending time
together. We live 4.5 northwest of Cresco.

Mark Altfillisch 5 Eaglepoint Aliso Viejo, CA 92656 949-831-5504 mark.altfillisch@sbcglobal.net
I left Elma (and Crestwood) during the summer before our Sophomore year (1979). My family moved to Ankeny,
where I graduated from Ankeny High School in 1982. I went to Iowa State University, where I got my BS in
Aerospace Engineering (1987). I saw a few Crestwood classmates during my years there. I took my first
Aerospace Engineering position with Rockwell International (now Boeing) in Downey, CA (suburb of Los
Angeles) as an aerodynamicist for the Space Shuttle Program. After only four years, the industry turned south
and I found myself back in the Midwest again. Just prior to relocating to the Chicago area, I married Michelle,
who I met while at Rockwell. We lived in Naperville and Plainfield until, in late 1996, I got an offer from
McDonnell Douglas (also now Boeing), bringing us back to the LA area. I've worked in the Flight Controls and
Avionics Test Group for the C-17 Program. Shortly after moving back to CA, we bought a house in Aliso Viejo,
CA (before the prices went nuts!) where we've been since. During that time we had two girls, Lindsay (6), and
Audrey(2). Golf is still my favorite hobby, although, as my handicap would indicate, I don't play as much as I
should!
Cynthia (Andera) Pitulla After graduation I attended Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, IA
where I obtained a diploma in Floriculture and an AAS in Parks and Natural Resources. Following I attended
Upper Iowa University in Fayette, IA where I obtained a double BS degree in Conservation Management and
Biology. During and following my formal education I had various jobs including Land Surveying for the Federal
Government, Naturalist at the County level and Park Aide for the State. Then I began entry level work at The
Wildlife Habitat, a retail/wholesale business in Cedar Rapids, IA where I spent the next 10 years reaching the
level of Vice President. Following I took a position in Golden Valley, MN as Operations Manager/ Sales Rep with
Kellogg Inc. Seeds and Supplies; later I was transferred to the home office in Milwaukee, WI as Wildlife Division
Manager. For the next 2.5 years I took a job as Marketing Coordinator for Foster’s Inc. of Waterloo, IA; a
wholesale lawn and garden distributor. Then I accepted the position as Territory Manager for RFG Distributing of
Crystal, MN; a wholesale pet products distributor. While attending the MN Nursery and Landscape Association
convention I met John Pitulla of Chicago, IL. We were married at Holy Trinity Church Protivin, IA on July 13,
2002. John has a BS degree in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN. He is a
Manufactures Rep in the Lawn and Garden industry. He is co-owner of Pitulla Sales. We have made our home
northwest of Cedar Falls, IA. We are blessed with two sons (Angus in Sept 2003 and Ryan in December 2006).
After becoming a mother I gave up my professional career to become a stay at home mom. I enjoy the outdoors,
gardening, bird watching, hunting, fishing, photography, home decorating, antiques, country music, family and
friends. We also enjoy spending time watching the MN Vikings and Chicago Bears, traveling and occasionally
golfing; that is when we are not spending time with the boys.

16. Jessica is married and I have one granddaughter, Lily 6, and one on the way. I have worked at Rockwell

boys Beau (17), Chais (15) and ooops Shane (11). Currently, I am getting old, gray, bald and wrinkly just like the
rest of you. My wife and I are both Doctors of Chiropractic and practice out of Park Falls WI. In 1994 we (and a
group of about 12 other DC’s) started a group of Chiropractic Offices called Allied Health Chiropractic Centers.
We are now 50+ locations in 5 states (MN, IA, WI, IL, MI).

Athletes. I enjoy training athletes, especially my children.

book called: “Developing Mental Toughness in Athletes”. I hope to have that done by the end of the summer of
07.

I enjoy coaching young athletes in football, basketball and baseball. Our boys are involved in all of these sports.
This helps to keep us involved in their lives. Lore (Pronounced Lorie) helps a lot with all of the organization of
these events. She does a great job as a mother, wife and Doctor of Chiropractic

Alan Vokaty: After high school, I went to work for my dad at Ray’s Body Shop for a year. Then I went to
college for 2 years at NIACC in Mason City and got a degree in Electronic Technology. After college, I worked
for a year at Peterson Electric in Mason City. In 1986, I started working at Donaldson’s in Cresco and have been
in the maintenance department there for the last 14 years. I married Roxann Zubrod in 1988 and we have one
boy, Shane, who is 6 years old. We like hunting, racing, camping, and going to different sporting events and
spending time with our families.

Dan Burr Dan passed away in 2010 Here’s Dan’s bio from 2007:
1982 -1984 Attended Iowa Central Community College and earned an AA degree in electronics engineering.
1985 Moved to Webster City, Iowa for my first job with Frigidair manufacturing. My first taste of real
independence. 1987 Moved to Longmont, CO to find more interesting work. Loved the mountains so much I
bought a house north of Black Hawk, CO. Living at 9000 feet of elevation definitely agrees with me because I’ve
been living there ever since. Chopped my own fire wood for 5 years before switching to propane heat and
eventually natural gas. 2002 Was sent to Europe on business and was able to tour Germany and France for a
week. I was very impressed with the pride they take in their country sides. It was like driving through a golf
course everywhere I went. 2005 After 20 years with electronics jobs I had designed and built everything
electrical from washing machines to satellites. I felt a change in my life was due, so I obtained a Commercial
Drivers License and took up over the road trucking. Since then I have toured the United States from coast to
coast and border to border. I love it!! 2007 After all this time I am still single. No children that I know of. And
enjoying my quiet peaceful life.

Tom Fitzgerald: After high school, I attended NICC in Calmar and received a degree in Ag Mechanics. A few
years later, I met Diane while she was still in college. We married in 1990. We've been living near Elma ever
since. I returned to NICC in 2002, and completed the Network Administration program. I'm currently employed
by John Deere Product Engineering Center in Cedar Falls as a Product Development Specialist. My wife is
employed by Mayo Clinic in Rochester. She is an Analyst Programmer and is able to work part of the time from
home. We have four daughters, ages 14, 11, 9, and 5. They're very active in sports (year round) so much of our
time is spent watching their sporting events. In the summer, we love to be involved with water activities,
kayaking near Kendalville or pontooning on the Mississippi.

Jackie Johnsrud: I played golf at Iowa State and graduated from Washburn University in Kansas with a degree
in Finance. After graduating from college I went to work in Des Moines at our family business, Johnsrud
Transport. We transport food grade bulk liquids such as vegetable oil, chocolate and orange juice, throughout the
US, Canada and Mexico. I started out as the receptionist and over the years ended up doing nearly every job at
the company, either out of design or by necessity. I currently serve as President.

My husband and I got married in 1997. He farms and works for Wells Fargo Insurance. He is originally from near
Worthington, MN. We live in Norwalk, Iowa and have 2 very spoiled cats, Talbot and Tuna. I enjoy cooking and
entertaining; a friend and I do some catering on the side when I am not “trucking.” I also enjoy golfing,
gardening, boating and snowmobiling.

Karen (Kofron) Margotta Post High School: I moved to Rochester, MN and attended the Rochester Vo-Tech for
1 year and graduated from the Medical Secretary Program. A couple of years ago we moved back to Rochester
and I have been working at the Mayo Clinic for 21 years. Currently, I’m a Research Assistant in the Cancer
Center Clinical Trials Office.
Family: Have been happily married to my husband Mark for almost 19 years. Mark works in maintenance at the
Mayo Clinic. Until January 2007 we had 2 furry children – one 18 pound cat named Sir Julio Bill (now in heaven)
and one 5.5 pound cat named Ms. Tonja. I enjoy eating, talking, my furry “children,” going for long walks and
bike rides, reading, knitting, sitting on our porch enjoying the outdoors and advocating for the environment and
underserved people.
Nancy (Cannon) Steele: Well, another 5 years has passed! Where does all the time go? It didn’t go by this fast
in school that’s for sure. I live in Caledonia MN and work in Spring Grove, MN at Northern Engraving. I work
in the office as a Quality Assurance Clerk. I've been with the company for 24 years. I've been divorced since 1995.
My son, Wylie, is 16 years old and works at a car dealership doing detail work and goes to school. Last November
my son and I, his friend and mom went on Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship for 5 days. We had a great time! On
weekends, I like to go camping, 4-wheeling and have a few cocktails with my friends or just stay at home
working in my yard or relaxing. We have one dog. Her name is Gabby.

Sue Schnur (Ferrie) married to Marv for 23 years. We live in Ridgeway, Ia. Sue has worked at Rockwell Collins
for 18 yrs in Decorah, and my job is a lead person. Marv is a mechanic at Anderson Auto Center in Cresco. We
have 3 children. The oldest, Torie, lives in Ossian, IA with her fiancé Todd Waterman and their son Kole
who was born 3 months early on Feb 7, 2007. Next are Travis, who is a senior this year, and Tanner who is a
sophomore this year. We love camping and sitting around the bon fire, and we love babysitting our grandson.

Laurene Grube: I have been living in South Carolina for the last 5 years. I divorced Mark in 2005 and remarried
in August of last year. I am now separated from that mistake (never marry a man 10 years younger). As you
know I have 5 kids with Mark: Lori is 24 and recently moved back to Iowa, trying to find herself. Steven, 23, lives
here in Lexington with his fiancée and they are making me a grandma this year. Jeremy will be 21 and lives with
his uncle Larry and his wife on Hilton Head Island. David is 19 and lives with his dad in Northeast Columbia.
All the boys are mechanics (go figure). My youngest Michele is 17, I home schooled that one and she actually
graduated. She is now considering joining the Army. I currently work with my oldest son, Steven, at All Tune &
Lube. I am the front desk receptionist or in other words the one that gets to listen to the customer’s complaints. In
my free time, I shoot pool in an 8-ball league. I love to go to the races, dirt or asphalt. But most weekends are
spent at my favorite bar, McCarys, playing trivia, bowling, or golf on the Silver Strike machines. I love it down
here. If any of you ever want to come to South Carolina, I promise you will have a good time. Or if you just want
to keep in touch you can email me at lgrube@sc.rr.com.

I graduated in 1987 from ISU with my degree in Landscape Architecture after enjoying a 6-month exchange
program to Australia where I met my husband. I worked on the east coast for four years, Boston and Washington
DC. Then I moved to The Netherlands in 1991 and married in 1995. We haven’t gotten many visitors from our

Paris is just a 4 hour drive from here and of course you can visit Amsterdam or even go into the Alps. I love
planning our family vacations as I haven’t ran out of fantastic vacation spots yet. My hobbies include travelling,
rowing and being a landscape architect.
My best and worse memories of high school would have to be Band and the Horticulture Club / FFA (road trips!)

Eric Taylor 15208 Woodson Overland Park, KS 66223913-706-6126 ( cell ) emtaylor@kc.rr.com
I have lived in the Kansas City area ( Overland Park ) ever since graduating from UNI in 1986. Married for
almost 12 years to my lovely wife Sara (an Iowa girl from Des Moines, met her at the gym ). We have 1 child,
Jessica, who will be 4 years old by the time of the reunion. As I mentioned, I attended UNI, graduating with a
Finance degree, and am self employed as a real estate appraiser doing business under the name of Taylor Home
Appraisals. Prior to that, I spent too much time in the corporate world, did a lot of traveling, and don’t miss it a
bit! I still love to hunt and fish, and love/hate to play golf. High school provided me with too many found
memories, and I could not even begin to elaborate on any of them, but they always involved good times and great
friends! Life was just too simple back then, huh? Favorite teacher would have to be Stock – just because I liked
Phys Ed!

Joe Flemming 3675 Right Hand Canyon Road Reno, NV 89510 775-475-0989 renojoef@yahoo.com

In 2004, we moved from Colorado to Nevada. Before the move, all I thought Nevada had was Las Vegas, desert
and nuclear test sites. Yes, Nevada has all of that, but northern Nevada also has great hunting and fishing,
mountains, a mild climate and Lake Tahoe. Our house is on a 40 acre ranch 30 miles outside of town, tucked in at
the end of a canyon. The daily drive is tough, especially with kid’s activities after school daily, but we love where
we live.

Eric is 15, a sophomore and an Eagle Scout. He has lettered in cross country, skiing and swimming. Jacob is 12
and in 7th grade. He is active in cross country, track and baseball. Kim and I celebrated our 20th anniversary this
year.

My employer that brought me to Nevada is Q&D Construction. We do about $300 million of work annually. I
am the Preconstruction Director of building projects. I just completed the final estimate and bidding of a $200
million Ritz Carlton Hotel at Lake Tahoe. It is under construction and will be open in 2009. I also oversee a
preconstruction team and estimators. Most projects I work on are much smaller, in the $10-$20 million range.

This will be the first reunion I have missed, but Cresco is not on the travel plans this summer. The summer is too
short and there aren’t any flights from Reno to Cresco.

Janell (Bohr) Novak: After graduating High School I went to ISU to get a B.S. in Horticulture. I found a job in
Buffalo Grove {NW suburb of Chicago} at Tropical Plant Rentals. I eventually moved up and was a Supervisor
who trained and maintained a customer/employee base for about 8 years. I met my husband, Jim Novak, on an
account I was taking care of the plants. We got married on July 17,1993. We now have 2 children, Amanda
10yrs,and Sarah 5yrs old. I quit working for the plant company when Sarah was born; but now I’m working as a
preschool teacher for 2/3 yr olds for 2 yrs. I also sub at Sarah’s other preschool. I’m a Girl Scout leader and this fall
I will have two troops to manage. I volunteer as a catechist Assistant at our church. At my daughter school I
volunteer with PTO and as a room parent. I’m an assistant coach for Amanda’s fast pitch softball team. I just
enjoy being involved in our children’s activities and watch them grow up. I play mush 14” softball as shortstop
for the past oh 5 years. I love to bike ride. I’m looking forward to the class reunion.

Carol (Davidson) Stoops Married to Bobby, Children: a daughter Mackie age 10 Twin sons, Drake and
Isaac, age 7
Carol (Stika) O'Donnell After graduation, I went on to Northeast Iowa Community College in Calmar and
graduated from the Bookkeeping Accounting Program. After that I found a job at the Floyd County Auditor's
office in Charles City, IA and worked as a Deputy Auditor there for 12 years, then transferred to the Floyd
County Case Mgmt. Office, where I am still employed as an office manager. In 2000, I married Pat O'Donnell
(1981 CHS graduate f/k/a Elma mafia member) and we live in Nora Springs, IA. We have 2 children, Connor,
age 4, and Carly, who will be 1, July 17th. When I do have spare time, I like doing gardening, walking, and
spending time with my family.

Bill Augustine & Family
Hi everyone. Most of you probably do not remember me, but I was tall, skinny and a little goofy looking
with thick glasses (couldn’t help that). Well I’m still tall, a little goofy, but I’m definitely not skinny. This will be
the first reunion I have attended and I’m looking forward to seeing old friends and maybe getting to know a few
more people I didn’t know that well in school.
Directly after high school I attended school at Northeast Iowa Technical Institute for a one year course in
carpentry. My good friend Joe Busta and I both enrolled and were going to go into business together after school.
Unfortunately, as most of you may know, Joe was involved in a tragic car accident that left him paralyzed from
the chest down. Over the years Joe and I have kept in touch at least once to twice a month. Watching Joe
overcome many obstacles in his life has been a big inspiration to me in my own life.
After graduating from Calmar, I stayed around Cresco for about one year working for Robin Smith’s Dad
on their farm during the day and worked a night shift for Rawhide Trailers. At that time, I was offered a job in
Colorado to work as a carpenter. So within a five day period I quit two jobs gathered up the few things that I
owned, moved to Denver Colorado and started a new job. That was June 1, 1984. I stayed working for that
company for about two and a half years and then started a new job working for Continental Airlines. It was a fun
job with great flight benefits but the pay was minimal and I knew it couldn’t last. Meanwhile a friend at the
airport had decided to set me up on a blind date with a friend that worked with his wife, and that’s how I met my
wife, Linda. After dating for less than one year, we were married on August 6, 1988 and will celebrate our
nineteenth anniversary this year. I continued working for the airline and started framing houses at the same time.
I was framing during the day and working a night shift at the airport. After about two and a half years, I gave up
the airline work and continued framing.
On February 19, 1991 our daughter Brittney Ann was born and what a wonderful day that was. Our
intentions were to have four to five children but were blessed with just the one. In my eyes she is the best child
anyone could ask for. She is beautiful, smart, and a very caring person. She is sixteen years old now with her own
car and a job to go along with it. We are very proud of her. In 1991, I also started my own business building new
homes and continued doing so for the remainder of my time in Colorado. I ended up living in the Denver for
about fifteen years and enjoyed it very much. Most of our time was spent working; but we did enjoy taking
camping trips into the mountains with friends or attending family reunions throughout the years. Every now and
then I would be able to get away and do a little fishing or hunting for some recreational fun. In 1997, Joe Busta
came out for an Elk Hunt which was a lot of fun. It was nice to see Joe fill out his tag with a cow elk.
In November of 1998, we decided to try our luck in another part of the country, so we moved back to the
mid-west and settled into Kenosha WI. I was a little closer to some of my family and it has worked out rather
well. My wife Linda went back to school and received a degree in nursing. She is presently enjoying her new
career working in a local hospital here in Kenosha. My daughter Brittney is a sophomore in high school where
she is doing very well. She is ranked 56th out of 758 students in her class. We are very proud of her. And for
myself, after moving to Wisconsin, I was employed by a framing contractor in Illinois for approximately seven
years. But after seventeen years of framing, every day my body is starting to give up. So with the combination of
an injury and the slowing economy in the housing market, I decided to take advantage of this time and further
my education. I am currently going to school seeking out a degree in civil engineering and feeling pretty good
about my future.
Through the past twenty-five years, I have had the opportunity to meet a lot of people and to make
several new friends. But I realize that some friendships are only skin deep and are not able to overcome certain
hardships. I have been lucky to have two people in my life that I can truly call my best friends. We have had a lot
of fun together throughout our lives, but they have also been there for me through times of need and through
times of sorrow. A person does not always get a chance to publicly thank someone for being a good friend. So I
would like to use this opportunity to thank my best friends Joe Busta and Mark Burke for being there for me
through the good and the bad. And I honestly believe that we will be best friends for the rest of our lives.

Dan Galvin: After graduation I went into Air Force basic training in Nov '82 and Tech school following as a
Electronic Comm Technician. Assignments were Cannon AFB, NM, RAF Alconbury, United Kingdom, Offutt

Dave Kaiser 1309 N Carolina Place Mason City, Ia 50401 641.423.9409 dkaiser@ Yaggy.com
I have lived in Mason City since graduating from North Iowa Area Community Collage in 1984. I have worked
for Yaggy Colby Associates, a civil engineering firm, going on 24 years as a project designer and CADD systems
coordinator. I have 2 great kids: -Elle is 17 and going to be a senior at Mason City High School - loves friends,
cheerleading, dance team, tennis and music. Kyle is 16 and will be a junior at Mason City High School - Loves his
Xbox, soccer, cross country and music. They both work at the same Hy Vee store. I have 2 dogs:-Jag is a black Lab
-Gauge is a golden retriever. Both love to hunt ducks, geese and pheasant. I fish as much as time will allow when
not busy at kid activities and run about 20 miles a week. I love to hunt duck, geese, pheasant, deer turkey, elk. I
get together every 2 years or so to hunt and play poker with Mike O'Byrne, Eric Taylor, Wakefield, Kent Svestka
and Kirk Novak, and of course no beer is consumed, Novak keeps us laughing our asses off, Wakefield gets
himself in trouble (what’s new) and O'Byrne is still to cheap to play poker with us.

I purchased 160 acre farm South of Mason City in 2005. It is planted to prairie grass, has 8 ponds and is a great
spot to hunt, fish, hike, camp, 4 wheel etc. Anyone welcome, anytime. I don' know about a favorite teacher or
class. but Memory(s)?? Hunting Cardinal marsh every night in the fall while everyone else was at football
practice, ski trips to Colorado, concerts, road trips to LaCrosse ( We never lost anyone but Truka was pretty
lucky one night). Spoon and the things that happened to him and in his car. The late night poker games and
taking Fagner's entire weeks check. The skip day canoe trips and Bluffton keggers. Wakefields Duster and
cranking 'The Cars', the banana incident. To name a few.

Mike and Amy O’Byrne 812 5th Ave SE Stewartville, MN 55976 507-533-6813 mobyrne@charter.net
25 Years seems like a long time but it went by in a flash and a lot has happened in that time. For those of you that
I haven’t seen in a while, here is a little update on Mike O’Byrne. First of all, I’d much rather talk about my kids
than myself but here it goes.
After high school I went to North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) for two years and then Iowa State
University. After graduating from ISU in 87 I went to work for Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company in
Grinnell, Iowa. For two years I worked as a Claim Adjustor and then the past 18 years as a Marketing
Representative with stops in North Dakota and South East Minnesota. Hey, North Dakota isn’t that bad if you
like to hunt and fish and the people are some of the nicest around.

I moved to Stewartville, MN in 93 and was married to Amy Hruska in 94 (also a Cresco native). Amy is a nurse
at the Mayo Clinic in the General Clinical Research department.

Like many of you we are more proud of our two children. Jena is 10 and in 4th grade and Kara is 8 and in 2nd
grade. They keep us extremely busy going to their activities (Sports, Music, Girl Scouts…) and I expect there will
be more of the same for several years to come and we like it this way.

Most of our family time is spent traveling around the area in our 5th wheel camper with friends, family or just
ourselves. Campgrounds with swimming pools or horseback riding seem to be the most popular with the girls.
We are really looking forward to a trip out to Yellowstone the week after our class reunion. Anyone want to
baby-sit a Golden Retriever for 3 weeks?

Joy McCabe Pfuhl: My life the last 25 years....I moved to NC after graduating from the University of Iowa with
a Masters in Physical Therapy. I have worked in many roles within physical therapy since that time.

I married a wonderful man, Phillip Pfuhl, in 1992. We had a son (Christopher) in 1999. Unfortunately Phillip
became ill and he passed away in September 2003. Needless to say, the past few years have been filled with grief,
moving forward and growth. Christopher is the light of my life, as all children are!

My work life has been good, I own a Physical Therapy practice (KCP Physical Therapy) with a business partner.
It has been a challenge to be a single mom and a business owner. I am very blessed as my business has enabled
me to set my schedule around Christopher's many activities, and enjoy both my work and my son.

That is my life in the past 25 years in brief! Wishing all health and happiness in this year and the many to come.

Mari Danielson: After high school, I went directly to Luther College, graduating in 1986 and found myself 6
months later in Phoenix Arizona working in Public Relations and Advertising. Before leaving Phoenix for
Denver Colorado, I changed careers and began a long and exhausting journey, which I am still on, in the produce
and transportation industry. I spent 1992 through 2003 in Aurora Colorado starting my own logistics business in
2001. In 2003, I decided I needed to keep myself busier by working my winter season in Nogales Arizona, on the
Mexican border. I now live year round in Rio Rico, just north of Nogales working for a company which grows
fruit and vegetables in various regions throughout Mexico. I enjoy traveling but now that I’m an employee
rather than company owner, I don’t get much chance to do so.

I’ve never married, came close a couple times but my fear of commitment and lack of domestication hindered my
‘walk down the aisle’. I am currently in a relationship that is about as committed as I get! I have no children
except for my beloved four-legged canines: Tanker, my 120# Rotteweiler just passed away this spring from bone
cancer at age 9, may he rest in peace! MekaMae, a 9 year old Shiba Inu and Kanga-Roo, a 7 year old Teacup
Poodle who seems to think she rules our household!

Shelly Ryan: Wow! It is amazing that 25 years have already gone by since we graduated from high school!
Here is the Reader’s Digest Version of my last 25 years…

After high school I went to the University of Northern Iowa and graduated with a degree in Psychology (after 10-
12 other majors!) From there, I still wasn’t ready to step into the real world, so I went to graduate school at
Emporia State University in Emporia Kansas. I started my first year in clinical psychology and graduated with a
degree in Student Personnel Administration and Counseling. My first job was at Utica College of Syracuse
University in Utica, NY. I worked there for one long year and after a series of crazy circumstances, decided it was
best to get a new job. That led me to a great job at the University of Toledo in Ohio. I was there for six years
working in college admissions. I quit that job and moved to Minnesota with plans of getting my PhD. While I
was trying to gain in-state residency, I got a job with the Minnesota Higher Education Services Office directing a
state and federally funded program that worked with 4-6th grade, low-income students helping them and their
families start planning for college. I loved that job…until I got fired! That’s its own Reader’s Digest story all on
its own--filled with action, drama, and law suites!!! Ironically, it lead to a new job working for the federal agency
that partially funded the program I got fired from in Minnesota! I moved to Washington, DC and started
working at the Corporation for National and Community Service. It was a temporary, 3 month position that
turned into four years in DC! I then decided. I wanted to live somewhere closer to family, so I was either going
to move back to Minneapolis/St. Paul or to Phoenix (where my sister lives)…the extra, extra hot won out over the
extra, extra cold! I was able to keep my same DC job and work from our Phoenix office. I stayed with that job for
another year and half.

That brings me to today…I think I FINALLY figured out what I want to be when I grow up! I recently finished
my certification to become a life coach. I’m starting my own coaching practice in addition to doing some
consulting and training. I am also working with a former colleague from Minnesota who started a new business
providing capacity building services to organizations in Sierra Leone, the Gambia, Ghana and Tanzania, Africa.
This is a really exciting opportunity that will hopefully take me to Africa many times. AND I’m a Mary Kay
Beauty Consultant too! I’m taking “Multiple Streams of Income” very seriously!!! I’m working from home,
which I love, and am doing things that I really enjoy!

The love of my life is an adorable 1 1/2 year old Shih Tzu named Gingy…no husband or kids for me! I may still
be interested in the husband if a great one comes along, but have definitely decided to pass on the kids!!! I am a
fantastic Aunt to my four nephews and two nieces. In my free time I love to travel, volunteer, and spend time
with my family and friends. I also got my motorcycle license a couple of summers ago, so I got a scooter (it goes
70 mph so it's not totally wimpy!!!) that I love to ride. A Harley Sportster is next once I muster up some more
courage!

If you are ever in need of a warm, winter vacation, you are invited to come to Phoenix!!! I have so many fond
memories of high school and am really excited to reconnect with those who are able to make it back to Cresco this
summer!

Mark Johnson: Following graduation from Crestwood, I went to Iowa State University and graduated with a BS
in Computer Engineering in 1987. I moved to Phoenix, Arizona and took a job with Motorola in June 1987. In
1988 I married my college sweetheart, Stephanie Clark. While working at Motorola I completed my MS in
Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University in 1992. Our first daughter (Krista) was born a week before
I graduated.
We moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa and I went to work for Rockwell Collins in July of 1992. Since then we've had
another daughter (Hannah), in 1994 and a son (Luke) in 1998. I've held several Engineering, Marketing, Business
Development, and Program Management positions in 15 years at Rockwell Collins. I am currently Director of
Program Management for our eFlight business. When not working I love traveling with my family, reading,
woodworking, and several volunteer activities, including serving as an elder in our church.

I'm Marcie Henry Klomp and feel as though the past 25 years have flown by. It is hard to believe my daughter
just finished seventh grade, the grade where many of us met for the first time.

Looking at my life, it may not seem that much has changed for me in 25 years. I still live in Lime Springs, two
blocks from my folks, across from the church where I was confirmed. I've been working at the Lime Springs
Herald for the past seven years. I never went to school for journalism, but I was a weird kid and always enjoyed
doing reports in school. It worked out well because that was when Nicole, our daughter, started kindergarten. I
could attend her school functions on work time! What a deal!
Working at the newspaper has helped me overcome the shyness I always had. Now, I have to talk to people and I
have found that I enjoy that. It's true--everybody has a story. My job has also made me get involved in
community activities. In turn, our daughter is involved in many activities in town, which will only benefit her in
the future.
Gary Klomp, who graduated in 1983 (I robbed the cradle), and I married in 1989. I think that makes us married
for 18 years! Gary recently changed jobs. He is now working for Lowe's in Rochester. Being 40-plus and crawling
around in basements and crawl spaces doing plumbing and heating work doesn't look as enticing as it did at 20-
plus, so he made a career change that we are both excited about.

As I mentioned before, we have one daughter, Nicole. She is 13 and just finished seventh grade. I was worried
about her moving over to the junior high, but she has been very happy with meeting new friends and having new
classes. Right now, she's happy school is out! Our life isn't the most exciting, but we are content living in our
hometown.

Brian Burnikel My wife Chris and I live in Greenville, South Carolina (11 Dellany Ct. Greer, SC 29651 Phone 864-
987-9715 email bgbcab@charter.net) in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and a couple of hours from the
Atlantic Ocean. We both went to college at the University of Iowa where I stayed an additional 4 years for
medical school while my wife was in nursing school. Following medical school we moved to Rochester, MN for 5
years to complete an orthopedic surgery residency while my wife earned her Masters and Pediatric Nurse
Practitioner degrees. Following residency, we moved to Greenville, SC to begin an orthopedic surgery practice. I
am currently a partner in Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas and Associate Professor @ University of
South Carolina. I specialize in hip and knee replacement surgery and research in those areas.

We have three sons Alex, Austen and Andrew ages 14, 12 and 10. They all three have a passion for sports, and
especially soccer. They are actually quite accomplished in this area, each playing on premier level club soccer
teams. Alex and Austen have been selected for the Olympic Developmental Program and will be playing in
Ireland and England later this summer. Andrew was selected “player of the year” for his age in the soccer club.
Traveling to soccer events, going to the mountains and ocean, and an occasional golf outing take care of the free
time.

My favorite teacher was Mr. Keys. He had a quirky way of making science interesting. My fondest memories
were largely sports related especially wrestling with my brother.

Dawn Chandler Korhut 90 Sunlit Grove Street The Woodlands, TX 77382 I moved to Houston after graduating
from Iowa State in 1986. Currently, my husband Scott and I live about 40 miles north of Houston in The
Woodlands, TX. We left Houston 7 years ago to escape the growing population and traffic and to let Scott play as
much golf as he wants. Sadly we didn’t escape the people or traffic. But Scott has gotten plenty of golf in. Scott
is the western regional sales manager for Penguin Brands which sells to the sporting goods industry. He travels a
lot from Texas to the West Coast. We met when we both worked for a sporting goods company buying office
here in Houston. He was a buyer who had just transferred from Los Angeles and I was an assistant buyer. I soon
left buying for outside sales and have since enjoyed a successful sales career in environmental services and now
in home décor and accessory sales. For the past five years, I have worked for Giftcraft, a Toronto based gift and
home decorative accessory company.

For fun, we enjoy traveling together. We go each summer to the Caribbean, Mexico or SE Florida for our beach
vacation. The rest of the year we plan trips to explore different parts of the country. Last fall we met up with
friends from Iowa State in the Black Hills. We try to meet with these friends each year as our schedules permit.
We are hoping for a wine country trip this year.
While Scott is golfing, I enjoy decorating our home, working on my tropical garden and lounging by the pool.
We share our home with our six cats (ages 2 to 7 years) who we adore. Since my parents sold our farm, I have not
been back to NE Iowa. I am sure there have been many changes to the area in the last 10 years.

I have included some pictures. When you don't have children, you seem to take pictures only on vacation or of
your pets!

Ginger Larson 1204 S. Section Ave. Spring Valley, MN 55975 larson.ginger@mayo.edu
I have lived in and around Spring Valley, MN for the past 16 years. Prior to Spring Valley, I lived in LeRoy,
Kasson, and Rochester, MN. I own a home in Spring Valley. I live with my significant other, Bill Nelson, just
outside of Spring Valley. I am very fortunate to have my three sons, Matt age 24, Josh age 21, Corey age 20, along
with my two granddaughters, Carli age 16 months and Rylie age 1, live in the Spring Valley area. I also have two
English Setters; Clyde is 14 and Buster in 1 ½ years old.

I attended K-5th grade in Riceville, IA, 6th grade in Lime Springs, and of course, Junior High and High School at
Crestwood HS. I graduated from RCTC in 1989 with a medical secretary certificate. Currently, I’m taking
evening classes RCTC on a part-time basis. After being out of college for 18 years, it is like starting all over again!
For now, I’m taking some general classes.

I have been employed at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, for the past 17 ½ years. For the past seven years, I
worked in Facilities Project Services (FPS) which is construction as an Administrative Assistant. Prior to FPS, I
worked in Pathology for nine years doing a mixture of secretarial and lab duties. The first year and a half at
Mayo, I floated between two jobs.

I also have two part-time jobs. In the winter, I work for D&R Vending at the hockey tournaments in Rochester.
April through September, I manage the concession stands at our local race track, Deer Creek Speedway.

Past hobbies have included volleyball and tennis. Now that I’m a grandma, I enjoy spending time with my
grandchildren when time permits.

One of my fondest memories in high school was hanging out with my neighbor and close friend, LaVonne
Schroeder (Speer).

Leon Bohr and I (Lonnie Huhe) 1529 Canoe Ridge Road Decorah, IA 52101 563-382-2024
lon_bohr@hotmail.com We were married on July 6, 1985. We’ve made our home in the Decorah area now 22
years. Eleven years ago we moved from the city to nine miles northeast of Decorah on an acreage. Our love of
the outdoors prompted this move. Leon loves to hunt, fish and golf, I love gardening and we both love the
wildlife. We have two daughters, Megan, 19, will be a sophomore at Luther College this fall and Lindsey, 13, will
be a freshman in high school. Megan our oldest is our somewhat quiet, reserved and serious daughter and
Lindsey is our comic social butterfly. Lindsey takes after her father I think!!! Leon was with the Decorah Police
Department since graduation from Hawkeye Tech in Waterloo in Police Science until 1993 when he started at the
Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Department as Chief Deputy. The day Lindsey was born, 8/24/93; he was on the
phone constantly with his new employer as that was his first day of work with the Sheriff’s Department. How
memorable for me!!! In 2002, he was elected Winneshiek County Sheriff and has been governing the law in our
County since then. I also am in the law business, after graduating from Hamilton Business College in Mason
City, I worked for the County Attorney's Office in Cerro Gordo County until we were married. Since then, I’ve
worked for several attorneys in Decorah, my latest job as Legal Assistant to Attorney Chris Riker in Decorah.
Wow – time flies!!! As for a fond memory, teacher or class – are we supposed to be able to remember that? I think
I need to get out the yearbook and refresh this fading mind of mine!!! We are very excited to see everyone in July
at our 25-year class reunion.

Alan Krysan: Wow, how do you summarize 25 years in a "short account?" Here's my attempt. After graduation
I attended Iowa State, graduating in 1987 B.S. Agricultural Business. Took a sales management position with
Dana Corporation in St. Louis, MO, lived in Lexington, KY for 3 years, then moved to Nashville, TN and was
married to Terri (we met at ISU). We lived in TN until 1994 when we moved to Lakeville, MN (25 miles south of
the Twin Cities). Terri's been in the paper industry since we moved here. I was hired as Director of Marketing for
Finney Company and became President and Managing Partner several years ago. We are a publishing and
distribution company and I spend a significant amount of time on acquisitions (both product and corporate). I've
remained very involved volunteering with the FFA, doing Foundation work, training State and National Officers,
doing workshops at conferences, etc. A couple of highlights have been receiving my Honorary American FFA
Degree and being one of the charter members (and youngest) inducted into the Minnesota FFA Hall of Fame! My
vocation is my vacation, I truly love what I do and feel lucky to be able to run my own company. Terri and I
enjoy traveling and exploring the U.S., working in our yard, going to art festivals, and our Miniature Schnauzer
Abbie! (No we don't have any children, but we now have a great niece living only 10 minutes away). In case
anyone is wondering, yes, I still have my 1967 Ford Mustang; hopefully I'll get it back into driving shape in time
for our next class reunion. Alan & Terri Krysan, 9700 161st Street West, Lakeville, Minnesota 55044 (952) 898-3129

Dan and Jayne (Ollendick) Burnikel 2021 Cheryl Court Winona, MN 55987 507-454-0852 jburnike@hbci.com

After attending the 5, 10, 15 and 20th reunions, we find ourselves unable to attend the 25th; we wish you all a
great turnout and safe weekend!

We will be celebrating our 21st wedding anniversary in the month of June (2007). We have two children, Lexi,
age 15 and Owen, age 12, who have kept us very busy and given us the joy of our lives. They both go to Cotter
High and Jr. High Schools respectively in Winona, MN. Both are involved in their schools thru academics, sports
and band, both marching and concert.

We have lived in Winona, MN since 1994, and before that we lived in Fairmont, MN since 1986. Dan is a
Supervisor at Benchmark Electronics; Jayne is with Winona Clinic/Winona Health as an Intake/Urgent Care
Nurse. We both enjoy our jobs and the opportunities that we are given.

We spend a lot of time in the community as Winona has grown tremendously since we have moved here. We
enjoy the Mississippi River and lakes when we have free time. WSU has a fun men's basketball team and we find
ourselves attending many of those games over the winter. Our children have hit the age where chaperones are
needed both at home and school functions, so find ourselves on lists and attending events on "moment's notice".

Life has been good to us and we hope the same goes to our dear classmates of Notre Dame and Crestwood, Class
of 1982.

Kari(Hovden)Smith lives in Hastings MN with husband Roy and children Alison (14),Grace (9). She is a nurse
practitioner in cardiology at St Paul Heart Clinic in St Paul MN.

Carol (Davidson) Stoops I am happily married to Bobby Stoops and mother to 3 children, my incredible 10 year
old daughter, Mackie, and my devious and darling 8 year old twin sons, Drake and Isaac. Our family is
completed by our other two children, Louie, a 4 year old Golden Retriever and Lola, a 2 year old Harlequin Great
Dane.

I graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in Elementary Education. After graduating and getting
married we moved to Kent, Ohio. We lived and worked there for a year, then moved to Manhattan, KS for 7
years, Gainesville, FL for 3 years and have currently lived in Norman, Oklahoma for 8 years. Over the years I
built a successful business with Mary Kay Inc. and am now self employed as a National Sales Director with Mary
Kay, Inc.

I love spending time with family and friends and we travel every chance we get.

When I think of my time in high school, I smile when I remember all the activities with friends, fun band trips
and my cheerleading experiences. My favorite teacher was Mr. Sowers and believe it or not, my favorite class
was Physics.

Teri (Neubauer) Vagts Dan and I have been married since 1990. We live on a small acreage south of Cresco
right around the corner from King’s Bridge. (which I am sure a few of you remember!) We have no children, but
keep busy enough with our nieces, nephews and godchildren; plus our dogs, cats, and horses.

I am still managing the Hideaway and Dan is still a supervisor out at Featherlite Interiors. Dan’s favorite pastime
is fishing for pike or muskie and my favorite pastime is letting him go so I don’t have to hear about it. (You girls
know how that is!) We do spend our vacations going to Hayward, Wis. a few times every year and randomly
north and south of the US border.

Jeff Jenkins I'm currently employed at Hormel Foods in Austin MN as a SR Equipment Programmer and my
lovely wife of over 15 years, Connie, is a K-12 teacher in St Ansgar, IA. We live on an acreage by Little Cedar, IA
and have a little hobby farm with cows, steers, chickens, cats and dogs. We have two daughters. The youngest is
Molly Jon Jenkins (6yrs old) and the oldest is Elizabeth Alice Hope Jenkins (7yrs old). Life is great for us and we
enjoy every day.

Clark Wedderson The day after my 40th birthday, I went tandem skydiving with my brother, Craig, in
Waukon, IA. There were eight people that jumped out of the plane; 3 tandem jumpers and two photographers. It
was a very windy day. We were supposed to land at the airport, but we landed a half-mile away in a farmer’s
field! It was an experience I will never forget!

We are soon to be empty-nesters and are looking forward to doing some traveling and starting a new stage in our
life.

Teddie (Slifka) Lensing My husband Russ and I have been married for 18 years. He is very busy with farming,
and enjoys it most of the time. We have three teens. Our oldest daughter Jomarie, just graduated and is entering
the nursing field. Everyone says our middle girl, Katilyn, looks exactly like me. Hey, maybe I should send her to
the reunion. Everyone would sure think I had stayed young looking!! HA HA Dominik, our youngest, is already
in driver’s ed. The two youngest keep us on the bleachers. We love it! Baseball, softball, track, basketball, etc. As
for me, once a cheerleader, always a cheerleader. We all enjoy our small town country life in Iowa. I have
recently gone back to school to finish my BA. I love the classroom, thanks to Mr. Keys. Anyone remember those
wonderful "fruit flies" in Biology II? Oh Yea, and I just bought a Cotton Candy machine too. What Fun!

A brief account of the past 25 years---how quickly they have passed!
After our high school graduation in 1982, I moved to Mason City and attended Hamilton Business College. I
received my business administration degree and worked at a bank in Mason City. In 1984, I returned to Cresco
and married Ron Kuennen. He farmed with his family and I worked at Cresco Union Savings Bank. He passed
away in 1985 as result of a farm accident. I moved to Grundy Center in 1987 and married Steve Freese. He is
employed by Heartland Cooperative. I have worked for Lifetime Vision Center as the office manager for the past
sixteen years. I am also the assistant manager of the Center Theatre in Grundy Center. We have three
Boys. Evan (19) lives in Cedar Falls and will be a sophomore at college this fall. He is working on a degree in
business and finance. Bryan (18) graduated from high school in May, and will be going to college for a degree in
elementary education. Erik (15) will be a sophomore at Grundy Center High School this fall. Our family has been
very busy with the boys' sports, music and school activities. We are also active in community events and church
activities. The guys love to hunt with our dog Sam (a german short hair), and fish as often as possible.

Life passes quickly---make sure to slow down enough to enjoy it!

Tim Hoffman While I see others with grand babies, I am just now getting started with my family. Ella is thirteen
months and we have another one due in January. My wife Jennifer seems to be able to put up with me, so I think I
will do my best to keep her. I still restore old cars when given the chance, so if anyone back in the Midwest needs
a rust free classic car, feel free to look me up. timhoffman1964@hotmail.com

Karen Hyke mscruiser2006@yahoo.com I still suffer from the same 2 diseases I have had for most of my life: I am
terminally single with chronic foot in mouth. Not sure if there is any hope out there for me.
It is hard for me to believe that it has been 25 years.

Mark Schultz 25 Years Later The first couple of years I worked at IGA in Cresco until the fall of 83’ when I
started with A.D.S. in Cresco who I am still with. I did a lot of playing when not working or sleeping: rode
motorcycles, snowmobiles (which I miss, living in Kentucky) and working on my 1970 Corvette convertible.
(which is fully restored now and sitting in my garage.) January of 86’ I transferred to Creston, Ia. with ADS. I
worked there for 6 months then transferred to Columbus ,Oh. October 86’ I was married to my sweet wife
Debbie, whom I had known since seventh grade . She was Debbie Blaess from Burr Oak, Ia. She went to the same
church as I in Cresco. January 87’ we transferred to Perry, Ga. , again with ADS. While there for 4 years, we
enjoyed living the southern life style and going to the beach several weekends a year. Debbie worked in the
school system there (boy was that different from Iowa!) and yes we were considered “Yankees”. After 4 years in
Georgia, we transferred again to Owensboro, Ky. We have made it half way back north to Iowa and I think this is
where we will stay.

I am still with the company Advanced Drainage Systems Inc. (ADS) as the Production Manager after 23 years.
ADS is the worlds largest manufacturer of corrugated polyethylene (plastic) pipe. We have 35 plants in North and
South America and we are a very healthy company.
We enjoyed a very long honeymoon with not having our first of two children just 8 years ago. We now have
Heather (8yrs) and Garrett (2yrs). I think you can enjoy having children later in years a little bit differently; but I
wonder how much energy I’ll have when they are teenagers. We enjoy boating at one of our several lakes in the
area and spending weekends in Nashville, Tn. just as a get away. Maybe when the kids are grown and gone, we
will get our lake house.

We still make it up to Iowa usually once a year to see all of Debbie’s family that is around the Decorah area. My
parents and brothers are in Colorado now and we see them about as often.

Sorry I missed another reunion but if any of you are through Owensboro (it is about half way to Florida and on
the way) give me a call 270-926-0462 and will have lunch or dinner somewhere (who knows maybe I’ll buy!).
Best Regards, Mark

Donna Humpal "My post-high school life story." I went to and graduated from Iowa State University. Following
college I studied at a Chinese Language Center in Taipei, Taiwan for a year. After that little adventure, I went to
law school and graduated from the Univeristy of Iowa Law School in 1991. I obtained a clerkship with the district
court in Davenport, Iowa. After completing the clerkship, I practiced law in Davenport for about seven years.
During that time I practiced mostly in the areas of child-in-need of assistance cases, juvenile delinquency,
criminal defense and family law. I was appointed to be a magistrate in 1997.

During my first year in the Quad Cities I met Mike Pash. We hit it off quite well and were married on June 17,
1995. Although life in the Quad Cities was good, Mike had a chance at his dream job--computer game
programming--and we decided to take a chance on that so Mike moved to the Ames, Iowa area in the fall of 1998.
About six months later, I was able to close down my practice and join him. Unfortunately, Mike's employer
decided to close down that division, but we liked the Ames-Nevada, Iowa area and decided to stay. Mike now
works in Urbandale as a software design engineer for John Deere. I obtained employment with the Iowa
Supreme Court as a staff/research attorney and have been working there since July 1999.

Mike and I have been blessed with three children: Madeleine Humpal-Pash who is seven years old and getting
ready to start second grade. Isabelle Humpal-Pash is five and can't wait to start kindergarten this fall. Benjamin
Humpal-Pash is three and enjoys making his sisters laugh or scream, depending on the day.
Maybe in fifteen years or so Mike and I will develop some new hobbies. Right now every spare minute, and
every last bit of energy (and money!) is spent on our children. They are involved in school, music, gymnastics
and softball. They also provide us with as much enjoyment, laughter and entertainment as we can handle!

Patrick Ollendieck: Pat is farming near Lime Springs and his wife Mar, works at Featherlite Trailers in the
office. Children are 2 sons and 2 daughters- Alex (20) is a power lineman for Highline Construction, Amanda is a
Senior, Haylee is a sophomore and Sam is going into 6th grade this coming year.

Mark Carolan: After high school, I went to tech school in Des Moines. When I moved back to this area, I started
working at a car dealership, Weis Buick, in Decorah as a technician. Now, twenty-four years later, I am managing
the parts and service department of that same dealership.

I married Joleen Vsetescka, (Notre Dame ’80). We had two children. Julie is 21 now and is living in Waterloo.
Eric is 18 and just graduated from Crestwood this spring. I was widowed in 1994.

I still enjoy living in small town Ridgeway and am involved in my community. I have been on the fire
department here for 20 years. I am a Nascar nut. I have traveled across the country to watch races and see the
world, one track at a time. I’ve met a wonderful lady, Ruth Stearns, who enjoys my hobbies and my home
improvement skills.

Joan (Platte) Rauch After graduation from Crestwood, I earned my teaching degree at Concordia College in
Seward, NE. I met my husband, Scott, in college. We married a week after graduation and moved to
Indianapolis. After nine years of marriage, we were blessed with a son, name Micah. In December of 1998, after
12 ½ years of teaching, I decided to be a stay at home Mom. In February of 1999, we moved to Peoria, IL. That
following May, Hannah Joy was born. Last June, our family celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary with a
Disney Cruise.

I enjoy working at church, sewing, doing crafts and scrapbooking. I substitute teach at the Lutheran school my
children attend. As a family, we like to bike ride, play games and have movie nights. We still travel to Elma to
see my parents and family.

Tim Hoffman While I see others with grand babies, I am just now getting started with my family. Ella is thirteen
months and we have another one due in January. My wife Jennifer seems to be able to put up with me, so I think I
will do my best to keep her. She is a Tucson native. I still restore old cars when given the chance, so if anyone
back in the Midwest needs a rust free classic car, feel free to look me up. timhoffman1964@hotmail.com

I work for Rain Bird, the irrigation company, in their golf division. I am at golf courses now and then, but rarely
to golf. I do enjoy the sport and ironically, I usually golf when back in Elma!

We are building a new house in Vail, AZ., just East of Tucson. When we move into this house, that should be it
for a while. I have moved at least 25 times since graduating. My mother is the only stationary person in my circle.

I was especially frustrated to miss the reunion since I will be back in Elma for our family reunion on August 4! No
way to take three weeks off work for vacation because I will need the time in January when the baby comes. Rain
Bird does not offer paid time off for fathers. Bummer.
John Kepros After graduating I went to the University of Iowa and studied biomedical engineering and then
went to medical school also at the University of Iowa and graduated in 1991. I did my residency at Michigan
State University in surgery as well as an extra research year and finished in 1998. I was marred to my wife
Michele who is from Michigan in 1997. She is also a nurse. My oldest son Ethan was born in Connecticut in 1998.
I went to Yale for a surgical critical care and trauma fellowship and then went to practice trauma in Denver for
about 5 years where I was also the director of surgical critical care. My second son,Brandon, and my daughter,
Madison were born in Colorado. I came back to Michigan and am now the medical director of trauma at Sparrow
Hospital/Michigan State University. Work is very busy but we try to get out some to play golf. My wife plays
tennis and the kids are learning these sports. They go to school at Saint Thomas Aquinas in East Lansing. We
like the neighborhood we are in now and it is fairly close to my wife's parents. I would welcome any e-mails
from old friends, etc. to see how people are doing.

Dean Fagner Dean & Tracy Fagner now live in Durango, CO. Following graduation, I went on to get a degree in
Marketing from Iowa State University. While at Iowa State I was member of the 1987 National Champion
Wrestling team. After college I lived in Minneapolis for a couple years before moving to Chicago. I was in
Chicago for five years and transferred to Denver where I met my wife Tracy. I have a stepson Dylan who is 18.
Tracy and I work for Best Buy and live in Prior Lake, MN with our two dogs Maximus and Minimus.

Carol (Schemmel) Bohr I work at Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union in Saint Paul, MN as a Record Services
Supervisor. I have two beautiful children. My daughter Sadie is 14 years old and my son, Spencer, is 12 years old.
They are the two things that I am most proud of in the world and I look forward to them continuing to grow into
responsible and happy adults.

Sarah Lutz---I live in Orlando, Florida. I work as a veterinarian in a small animal practice. My husband, Joel,
works as a television news manager at the local ABC station. We have 2 children, Luke (age 9) & Olivia (age 7).
We love the warm weather climate and all the entertainment Florida offers but we do still get back to Iowa almost
yearly to visit family.

Teresa (Popken) Watson My husband and I live 13 miles west and 1 mile south of Cresco, where we have been
since our July 1981 wedding. We will celebrate our 26th anniversary on July 10th. Currently our oldest child, a

July 15th. They live in La Porte City, IA and are expecting their first child on December 24th. Our son,
Brandon, graduated from high school this year, and is working with his dad. My husband, Tom, works as the
production manager at Cresco Food Technology. I work part-time at Pine Needles Quilt Shop in Cresco, as a sales
clerk, class instructor, and long-arm quilter. This is definitely my dream job! Tom & I are very involved in our
church, First Congregational in Cresco, where we teach Sunday School, lead youth group, and Tom is an elder.
My hobbies include spending time with family and friends, quilting, cooking, and having lunch.

Kathy (Doubek) Malek Chuck and I were married June 5, 1982. We happily celebrated our 25th this year! We
are the proud parents (most days) of 5 wonderful kids.

Kayla will be 22 in September and is attending Luther College in Decorah. She will be graduating this December
with a major in Business and a minor in Human Resources. If anyone has a job opening, let us know - she has
many student loans to repay!!! Kayla has a boyfriend (for the last 3 years) and they share a pug dog "Macie". I'm
sure wedding plans are in the future.
Kassandra will be 21 in October. She is also attending Luther College. She is a Sophomore and is majoring in
Early Childhood Education with a minor in Psychology. She also has a boyfriend.

Katie will be 18 in August and will be a senior at CHS this fall. She plays every sport available and is also in choir.
She plans on going into Education Administration and being an Athletic Director.

Kim will turn 16 in July and will be a Sophomore at CHS. She enjoys volleyball, band and choir. Her future
plans include being a teacher.

Chas will be 15 this December. He also enjoys most sports and is involved in band and choir. He truly enjoys his
hunting and fishing trips with his dad and wants to become a Game Warden.

Chuck is still in the house building business. Take a look around the East Park area in Cresco. We have many lots
available if anyone is interested in moving back to the area!!!!

I was a stay at home mom for many years until Chuck had donated a kidney to his sister and then contracted
flesh eating disease a few months later. When he almost die, I realized that I needed a degree to fall back on to
support myself and the kids. I am proud to say that I graduated with my Associate Degree of Nursing in May of
2006 and am working at the Cresco hospital. I work mainly in the OB section (which I absolutely love).

Chuck and I find time every winter to vacation in Jamaica with our friends (usually 18 of us). We are a close
group of people and are usually together every weekend having some kind of fun.

As a family we go to Canada fishing every spring/summer and also to Cancun every fall/winter. These trips have
been very precious to us, especially as the kids are older and will probably not be able to find the time to go as
often. We try to live life to the fullest each day. "Life Is Good" !!! Kathy & Chuck Malek 740 9th Street East Cresco,
