June, 2008 SUMMER WORSHIP TIME CHANGE PLEASE MAKE NOTE THAT IN JUNE, JULY & AUGUST THE WORHISP TIMES WILL BE AS FOLLOWS: 9AM WORSHIP @ ST. PETER’S/BF 10:30AM WORSHIP @ ST. PAUL’S/DP NO SUNDAY SCHOOL Marion Area Food Pantry Distribution days for the Food Pantry are the 1 and rd 3 Thursday of each month. Please collect and bring them to St. John’s Lutheran Church, the food pantry distribution center. The following items are in short supply at the Marion Area Food Pantry: cereal, spaghetti, box meals, personal care items & powdered milk. We are now accepting eggs and fresh vegetables and fruit. (Please notify the office at St. John's so the items can be refrigerated.) st NEW HOURS OF THE CLOTHES CLOSET ARE: Wednesday 10 AM to 7 PM Friday 10 AM to 2 PM Saturday Morning 8 AM to 12 Noon Volunteers are always needed in the store and you may stop in and sign up anytime or call 754-MAMA during open hours to sign up or check the work schedule. Success depends upon our community, volunteers and are asking all that are able to help by signing up to work. Profits will help to support the building, which now has one nicely furnished apartment ready for a family in crisis from Waupaca County. Any additional monies earned will be put toward Hope Counseling and the MAMA Food Pantry. Marion area can be proud of our Clothes Closet Resale Shop, Apartment for Families in Crisis, Food Pantry, Hope Counseling Services and the commitment of all these volunteers. Your support is needed and appreciated. They will start taking spring/summer clothing on th March 12 . They are no longer taking winter clothing. Starting in January, 2008, we will be offering Holy Communion more often in our Parish. Holy Communion will be celebrated every 1st AND 3rd Sunday of each month, plus on any festival Sundays. Jesus Christ is present in the bread and wine of Holy Communion and we desire and need his presence, his grace, and his forgiveness often. ST. PETER’S COFFEE & TREATS EVERYONE??? X We are pleased to report that the collection from our St. Peter’s Easter Breakfast for our neighbor, Holly Vromann, who suffered a home fire, totaled $446. The Marion Lions contributed $500 and the Marion Lioness contributed $100 to our fundraiser so total raised was $1046. This amount was matched 3-1 by Thrivent NE Waupaca Co. Chapter #30071 so another $349 was added to our total and which means we were able to present Holly with a check for $1395. She was very grateful for everyone’s generosity to assist with her rebuild and many expenses not covered by insurance. Join Hands Day was held in conjunction with the St. th Peter’s WELCA Spring Luncheon on April 27 . A total of $819.00 was raised by the luncheon and Thrivent contributed $100 from Join Hands Funds. St. Peter’s WELCA voted to contribute the Join Hands Funds and profits from the Spring Luncheon to the purchase of a new DVD burner. Thrivent was pleased to be able to assist in this purchase and volunteer event. The Parish Confirmation Dinner was held April 30 and a lovely meal at St. Peter’s was served to our 2008 confirmands. Confirmation crosses for St. Peter’s confirmands were presented by Luella Moericke, St. Peter’s Thrivent Coordinator, and Louine Malueg, St. Paul’s Thrivent Coordinator, presented crosses to the St. Paul’s confirmands. Thrivent was pleased to assist with expenses. Nancy Heiman, June Mueller, Patti Zillmer, Luella Moericke, Louine Malueg, Karen Riemer, Kelly Zillmer, Bill Miller and Pastor Janice all participated in making the event memorable. If someone was missed in being listed – our apologies! Next big event will be our ―PIE SALE‖ at the Big Falls Corn Roast and Thrivent will be assisting through Care in the Congregations funding.
