Mack and Mack Adds Accessory Galleries to Showroom Studio
Greensboro, NC Based Fashion Label Offers High Quality Boutique Goods
GREENSBORO, NORTH CAROLINA (January 7, 2008)...In a move to diversify their offering of unique fashion goods to the Triad market, Mack and Mack, the women’s clothing design label based here, has made room at its downtown showroom/design studio for additional apparel and accessory fashion lines. The company has significantly enhanced inventory of both the home and gift accessory departments, with many items made in the USA. The products are chosen to complement the classic women’s clothing lines that are made and designed at the Greensboro fashion house for over 65 boutiques across the United States. Mack and Mack founder Robin Mack Davis has a knack for sourcing unusual fashion accessories for her clientele. Davis explains, “Whenever I wear Mack and Mack, which is every day, I get lots of compliments....[and] people also comment about my jewelry, scarves, tights and handbags too. I wear what looks good and made of lasting quality.” Robin continues, “We love to be surrounded by creatively inspired items. It is our culture at Mack and Mack to support emerging artists and now we can accommodate the vision with additional displays and inventory to support them. Shoppers will find an array of unique, handcrafted items.” Many of the boutique producers include US based ateliers such as Sarah Cavender Metalworks (Alabama), jewelry by Detra Kay (Palm Beach,FL), layering pieces by Florida producer A'Nue Ligne, cozy wraps and coats by Maine outerwear producer Maralyce Ferree and intricately felted purses by Soho, NY based Liore Manne. In 2007, the fashion label strategically strenghthened it’s own product lines by branding the core collection of “mix and match” separates, Magic, the Sako specialty jacket
line, and the launch of a new three-season Ultrasuede jacket collection this Fall. The expansion of the accessory galleries was the logical next step in providing women with the quality products that they come to Mack and Mack for. The 25% increase in inventory is a move towards becoming a “one stop shop” for all things fashion related, in addition to the classic, everyday and special occasion apparel that they make here. In addition to the fashion accessories, the showroom will now carry home/ hostess gifts such as artfully punch felted place mats, coasters and scatter rugs from Liora Manne, and natural linen drawer liners and tissue holders from Elizabeth W. based in San Francisco. High quality, locally made natural soaps are available. Weekly arrivals for the new accessory area include one -size-fits-all gifts to novelty fashion tights, leggings and printed knee-high socks (abstracts to florals), exquisitely hand-embroidered scarves, stainless steel modern cuff bracelets , freshwater pearl strand bracelets and European imports including a line of chic eco-based business card holders, messenger bags and note pads in recycled leather (scraps of leather with natural rubber) by San Lorenzo. Mack and Mack operates the showroom (open to the public Monday through Saturday) to serve the local clientele that helped build the brand and enjoys hosting visitors who enjoy the unique southern hospitality and discovering the independent creative artisans from the US and Europe, especially those in the Triad region, with an emphasis on fashion and lifestyle products.

Mack and Mack: Background
In 1995, Robin Mack Davis started Mack and Mack in Greensboro,North Carolina with inspiration from her successful apprenticeship in New York City with her dear friend, designer James T. Clarke. Starting modestly in her parent’s basement with a pingpong table for cutting, a sewing machine, and a keen sense of style, Robin set out to create clothing for women to look and feel their best.Shortly after Robin moved the business to the Nussbaum Center, a small business incubator, located appropriately enough in a former textile mill, Robin's vision came to fruition. Mack and Mack quickly blossomed as boutique owners and their customers recognized the clothier's quality and how the line flattered a variety of women's body shapes. Five years later, the company needed more space for growing the design business. Always the trendsetter, Robin re-located Mack and Mack to downtown Greensboro in a forgotten retail district. Today, the company headquarters is considered an anchor of the revitalization of locally owned specialty shops, restaurants, and cultural venues in Greensboro's center-city district. Mack and Mack now supplies 65 boutiques and a showroom with customized orders in three weeks or less from a single design studio/showroom/production facility. Local and out-of-town clientele enjoy a comfortable shopping experience and a superior level of customer service in the recently renovated studio showroom, and the public is always welcome to tour the facility. A self-guide video kiosk will be installed in Spring 2008. Although Robin is less likely to be found behind the sewing machine these days, she continues to oversee every detail (from creating the seasonal custom colors for the Magic separates line to working with VIP and celebrity clients) of what she set out to accomplish in the beginning, to bring beauty and simplicity together one garment at a time. The result is a classic, timeless yet modern clothing line worn by women around the world. Mack and Mack is located at 220 South Elm Street, Greensboro, North Carolina 27401.
