					Connecting your laptop to a Video/Data Projector
Projectors
The maximum resolution for projectors is 1024 x 768. They have an RGB button on the remote that needs to be pressed until RGB1 shows on the screen. However, some older projectors will only display at a maximum resolution of 800 x 600. These older projectors also have a mode button that needs to be pressed until mode appears on the screen. There are also two media stations present across campus, AMX and Media Link. If neither of these are present, skip to either the PC or MAC connection instructions below. AMX The AMX system has a touch screen for selecting input to the Video/Data Projector. 1. Press start on the touch screen. (If the screen is blank, touch the screen to wake it up)

2. Connect your laptop using the PC or MAC method below

3. Press Laptop from the list on the left side of the screen. This will switch the Video/Data Projector to the right input.

Media Link The Media Link system has a panel for selecting input to the Video/Data Projector. 1. Press the Display Power button to turn on the equipment. 2. Press the Laptop button on the panel. This will change the input on the projector. 3. Connect your laptop using the PC or MAC method below

PC
1. Press the standby/on button on the remote to turn the Video/Data Projector no (If its not already on from a previous step above) 2. Turn on your laptop. Your screen resolution should be set to at most 1024 x 768. However, some older projectors will best display at 800 x 600. 3. Connect the VGA cable from the projector to the VGA port on the back of the laptops

4. For Dell laptops only, hold the FN key (lower left side of keyboard) on your keyboard, then press the F8 key to toggle the display. There will be a small delay when displays are switching. (Note: There are three setting, laptop display only, projector display only, and both. Press the FN + F8 key combination again until the desired settings are obtained.)

MAC
1. Press the standby/on button on the remote to turn the Video/Data Projector on (If its not already on from a previous step above) 2. Turn on your laptop. Your screen resolution should be set to at most 1024 x 768. However, some older projectors will best display at 800 x 600.

3. Connect the apple DVI-VGA adapter to the DVI port on the back of your laptop 4. Connect the projector VGA cable to the apple adapter. 5. 6. Press the F7 key till the till the display shows on the projector, if the display does not show up automatically. 4/12/04 2
