LIST OF NEW FEATURES AT BROADCAST '07
ABERTIS TELECOM
The telecommunications infrastructure operator, Abertis Telecom, is ready to become an alternative of the first order, not only for large television channels, but also for local digital terrestrial television channels. In this respect, coinciding with the staging of Broadcast'07, the company will launch DTT SUITE. Abertis Telecom, which has led the drive to introduce DTT in Spain since the very beginning, has fully entered a field in which it has remained on the sidelines up until now, having focused on distribution and diffusion: storage and continuity. Within these areas, Abertis will offer a new service designed especially for local TV stations, based on a comprehensive product that includes all the necessary technological services in order to broadcast a DTT channel, encompassing every aspect, ranging from the digitalisation of production to the TV viewer himself, always employing the most advanced technologies. The strong-point of Abertis' idea resides in storage and continuity, presenting a solution that enables companies to optimise their use of contents in order to finally achieve an automated and continuous TV broadcast by following a predefined programme playlist. The DTT Suite solution from Abertis includes the following features: input (with multiformat codification of contents, in low resolution for broadcasting and low resolution for facilitating work with contents), storage and management (digitalisation and cataloguing of contents by means of a manager, permitting total or partial visualisation of the material from any point in the computer network), web publication (the platform permits the publication of contents in video-on-demand format via the Internet, thus facilitating presentation of the contents to the entire world without any geographical or time limits), automation (which permits the broadcast of contents from tapes, links or a digital file in an automated manner, whilst also offering the possibility of modifying the playlist until just seconds before going out on air), advanced graphics (the VR Spot graphics generation module enables the user to visualise multi-format graphics such as flash, wmv, jpg ... whilst also offering the possibility of automating a graphics playlist and offering access to external contents data bases) and, finally, advertising and EPG management (the system automatically generates a playlist of contents, including spots, and sends in the information so that EPG information can be generated.

ALTAIR WB-200 Series Wireless Intercom Altair introduces its new Digital Wireless Intercom System in order to complement its well-known E-200 system, incorporating compatible functions such as acoustic and light call and remote micro switch-off, among others. The system consists of a WBS200 powered base station, which operates with WBP-200 powered belt-packs. The base station is designed to operate in stand-alone or master mode, enabling clear and secure communication with up to four belt-packs and the base operator. Communication is full duplex. For large intercom installations or when more than 4 belt-packs are required, the base station can be configured in slave mode by wiring units across the coverage area, so expanding the number of wireless users in a cellular arrangement. Depending on the installation, base stations can also be powered remotely from a conventional EF-200 base station, thus simplifying wiring and maintenance. The base station incorporates party line outputs to drive standard EM-201 wired belt-packs. The wired connection is compatible with Espiral and Clear-Com, as well as with other compatible two-wire and four-wire Intercom systems. Television
Axión provides television operators with signal transport and diffusion services, along with other services such as maintenance, operation and consulting, thus enabling the programme schedule to reach TV viewers through its network of broadcasting centres. Among Axión's main objectives, we might highlight the support it provides television operators with regard to their switch to digital technology in view of the imminent analogue blackout. Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) is now a reality on the Spanish market, and Axión is at the forefront, offering television operators a series of integral solutions that encompass the entire chain of value, ranging from in-depth studies of transport and diffusion solutions within the planned boundaries to maintenance of active services, not to mention the introduction of new interactive applications. Following the example of the mother company, TDF, a pioneer in the development of DTT, having participated in the creation of the modulation technique employed in this technology, Axión implemented the DTT launch phase for RTVA in the year 2004, which guaranteed diffusion of the signal in eight provincial capitals throughout the Region of Andalusia. Radio
Axión also aims to support radio operators by enabling them to focus on programming, freeing them from the technical management process that accompanies the broadcasting process, transporting the programme created in the studio to the broadcasting centre and distributing it throughout the required service areas. Axión's experience within the field of radio is based on its management of the largest private FM radio broadcasting networks in Spain, as well as a network consisting of more than 30 centres corresponding to Onda Media, not to mention the provision of services to numerous local radio stations. Telecommunications
Axión places its own network of infrastructures at the disposal of fixed and mobile telephone operators (GSM, UMTS, LMDS ...), WIFI-WIMAX operators and public and private bodies. At the same time, it markets other infrastructures and purchases and builds new centres upon the request of its clients. At these centres, Axión develops an entire range of services that encompass the following: network planning and design, project implementation and start-up and maintenance.
It also provide structures that can be shared, which leads to cost savings, and supplies TETRA services, the digital trunking system that guarantees certain group concerns and organisations (fire brigade, police, rescue teams ...) a highly reliable closed communication network. In order to carry out these activities, Axión is able to rely on a network consisting of more than 500 exploitation centres, a highly qualified staff located in both Seville and Madrid and delegations located throughout the entire country. The company also offers all the know-how and experience of its mother company, the French Group, TDF.
Latest Projects Undertaken by the TDF Group Since the end of the year 2005, the TDF Group has been carrying out broadcasting trials using DVB-H technology, which permits mobile television. TDF is currently involved in numerous European collaboration projects through its subsidiaries and, specifically, in France it is anticipating the deployment of a national network in conjunction with the country's most important mobile telephone operators and service distributors. Within the radio market, digitalisation has opened up new opportunities for the TDF Group, which participates actively as a member of the DRM Consortium for the development of DRM digital transmission, a world standard for the digital diffusion of radio programmes associated with multimedia data. TDF has staged various demonstrations of this new technology.
New Challenges for Axión Committed as it is to the development of telecommunications, Axión seeks to promote the industry in all its projects. In this respect, it has implemented a number of new initiatives such as a pilot mobile television platform located at Axión's centre at Valencina de la Concepción (Seville), through which the company has carried out real planning studies for a DVB-H network. Furthermore, in conjunction with Cadena Ser, the company has commenced trial DRM broadcasts from its broadcasting centre in Pozuelo (Madrid), with a view to learning more about these analogue broadcasts by Onda Media, which will be able to offer a similar quality level to that provided by the FM wavelength. Axión continues to grow and develop, acquiring greater presence in Spain through the provision of Digital Terrestrial Television services. Within this field, we might highlight its recent collaboration with the Provincial Council of Seville, through the auspices of the Avanza Project. This initiative will facilitate the development of a Local Interactive
Digital Terrestrial television channel which will facilitate communication between the public and government.

BREAKING NEWS: WHAT DO DAVID MANLEY AND THE LONDON TUBE HAVE IN COMMON?
MANLEY RETURNS, only this time to this side of the Atlantic. This is apparently not the first time that the two Davids have worked together, given that in the late 1960's, Dearden helped Manley build a tube console for the studio that Manley was managing in South Africa. In this respect, the recent AES Convention in New York served as an ideal pretext for the launch of a new range of products based on tube technology. These products will reach the market over the first few months of the year 2008. "Oh no! More tube processors?" you will be saying to yourselves. Well, this is not just more tube-based junk. What it means is that, without additional import costs, we are going to be able to gain access to Manley's products, made by the man himself and with the added advantage of being linked with technology from Audient, experts in providing outstanding quality at low cost. The first 3 models in the new London Tube Series from Audient are already out: 936 Variabe Mu Compressor 933 Mic Preamp and EQ EQP-2A passive EQ
NEW LYNX AES16e: AES/EBU ON PCI-EXPRESS
Lynx AES16e provides 8 stereo digital audio AES/EBU 24-bit/192kHz inputs and outputs in PCI Express format, which is omnipresent in the most recent Macs and is becoming increasingly prominent in PCs. We also find the AES16e-SRC and AES16e50 models. AES16e preserves all of the other features of the AES16 model, in PCI-X format, enabling us to integrate multi-channel A/D and D/A converters, digital consoles and
other digital equipment with a computer, either under Windows or Mac OSX operating systems. In order to carry out these tasks, it incorporates "Synchrolock", a control application, and LStream and LS expansions: -"Synchrolock" is a low-jitter Word Clock generator that means we can work even though various degraded digital signals are transmitted to us. - The "Lynx Mixer" application enables us to configure the sample rate selection, clock adjustments, the size of the buffer and the signal routing by means of a virtual mixer that enables us to save in a memory the scenes designed to carry out à la carte monitoring. - With the optional LS-ADAT card we can even convert it into a virtual multi-format patchbay (ADAT-AES/EBU). The Lstream expansion makes it possible to link various AES16e, thus multiplying the inputs and outputs to a maximum 64 digital I/O with 4 combined cards, provided that we have that number of PCI slots available. Lynx AES16e is also presented with the AES16e SRC and AES16e-50 models. The AES16e SRC model offers real-time sample rate conversion with 4 stereo input channels, whilst the AES16e-50 model incorporates an AES50 interface, which allows the user to transfer up to 48 channels of bi-directional digital audio with a single Cat5 or Cat6 cable. These PCI-Express cards are expected to be available by the second half of November. The approximate prices are as follows: 650 euros + VAT for the AES16e model and 760 euros + VAT for the AES16e-SRC model. No price has been announced yet for the AES16e-50 model. NEW FAT TRACK FROM TL AUDIO: THE MOST COMPLETE TUBE PRODUCTION SUITE
Designed to be the "cornerstone" in audio recording and mixing applications, FAT TRACK combines some of the most highly-acclaimed characteristics of TL Audio products in a compact unit, adding warmth and other sonic effects to every signal that passes through the system. This unit features two tube pre-amps and a complete monitoring control system with 4 stereo and 2 mono returns. We can use the microphone, line and instrument pre-amps for our recordings or pass digital loops through the unit in order to endow our signal with that tube equalisation colour. We can also use these returns for summing applications, taking advantage of the equipment's analogue "headroom", thickening the signal. In order to complete the unit, two headphone outputs are added with independent
level control, effects returns, balanced insert on the master channel and the rest of the channels, tape out and I/O switchable between + 4 / -10. As if this were not enough, users can ensure digital connectivity by means of an optional DO-8 ADAT Card, also from TL Audio. FAT TRACK can be used by producers, musicians, composers and audio technicians, engineers and enthusiasts in general, offering some excellent results with all the sound nuances and characteristics of analogue tube production and "headroom". Is it worth buying the latest instalment from Samplitude, one of the big multi-track software suppliers for digital audio? When a new version of the programme appears, in this case the tenth, this is the question that potential users will ask themselves. We are accustomed to new software versions introducing substantial improvements to previous versions. For other software manufacturers this is relatively easy, but when you have developed the most neutral and powerful audio driver (Hybrid Audio) and the most outstanding plug-ins and applications on the market and you have developed objectbased editing, then the matter becomes a little more complicated. It is no longer so easy to impress with radical changes. In this case, the maker has simply added new functions, plug-ins and applications to Samplitude No 9 and made a few other subtle modifications in order to achieve the outstanding Samplitude 10 version. Among the new features presented by Samplitude 10 Pro, we might highlight the considerable improvements in automation, new side-chain routing in plug-ins and the new AM|MUNITION mastering compressor/limiter. If to this we add new applications and improved algorhythms in certain processes, then things start to get interesting.
Main new features in Samplitude 10 Pro: - Automation now extends to a greater number of parameters, including equalization and plug-ins, offering greater versatility with regard to tracks, objects, auxiliary functions and mastering. - New side-chain routing in plug-ins. Very, very interesting. - A new AM|MUNITION mastering compressor/limiter. This belongs to the VST Series Analogue Modelling Suite. AM|MUNITION adds definition, side-chain capacity and M/S processing. A treasure. - Significant improvements in time-stretching and pitch-shifting, raising the benchmark in terms of audio quality. - Significant updating of multi-band effects: "Multiband dynamics" with advanced mode and "Multiband stereo enhancer" with stereo maximizer and internal M/S processing. - New audio quantization and recognition of transients.

-
New Manager Routing, which works as a matrix display for inputs, outputs, auxiliaries and side-chain sends in order to facilitate signal routing. Includes a Independence LE VSTi Sampler, with 4Gb library. Based on the innovative "Advanced instrument Technology" from Yellow tools. New Cleaning and Restoration tools for removing clicking and crackling and other distortions. Includes a new Declicker/ Decrackler effect, a re-designed Denoiser and Declipper, and Brilliance Enhancer, which compensates for losses at high frequencies, as, for example, during MP3 compression or in the case of old tape recordings (only in the Master version, optional in the Pro version) New "Overview Mode" in order to display all of the objects in your project. New skins in the tools bar featuring new icons. Integration of additional hardware controllers and updating of the management interface for these devices. Elastic Audio easy with Samplitude 10 (previously Classic). The old Samplitude Classic is now known simply as Samplitude 10.
All of this will be available as of November and the prices are as follows: €420 + VAT for Samplitude 10, €840 + VAT for the Pro version, and €250 + VAT for the Master Version. Consult update prices, given that there are various possibilities. You can update from Samplitude 9 Pro to Samplitude 10 Pro for €215 + VAT. The crossgrade policy shall continue to be supported, making it easy to gain access to Samplitude from €167 + VAT. There appear to be a sufficient number of improvements in order to update, or at least to consider updating. The programme is as good as before in audio terms, but is truly excellent with regard to editing, plug-ins and applications. For those who are as yet unfamiliar with the virtues of Samplitude, this is the best moment to join this select club, one that brings together those who savour the best in audio sound. NEW AUDIENT MICO: PRE-AMP WITH FINE TOOLS
The MICO has just been brought out onto the market. This product consists of a compact twin-mic set, featuring HMX and Variphase, instrument pre-amp and an analogue/digital converter. The transparency and clarity of these pre-amps is guaranteed, given that the Class A circuit in the MICO shares the same design as that used in the ASP008 pre-amps and ASP8024 mixing console, also from Audient. Furthermore, we can add all the colour we desire and capture the sound with a correct phase alignment, thanks to the variable "HMX" (channel 1) and "Variphase" (channel 2) controls. The twin microphones share a switchable high-pass filter, a -10dB attenuator, Phantom power input, phase invert, signal measurement, balanced analogue inputs and outputs and digital outputs. Channel 1 features the instrument input and "HMX" control, a variable control with which we can add musically relevant harmonics to our signal, recalling the effects achieved by the classic tube circuitry designs. This "HMX" also appears in the Black Pre, the high-range pre-amp in Audient's "Black Series", creating a vintage-style character with the simple turn of a knob. Channel 2 offers an ideal tool for capturing a single source with twin mics or mic+DI, based on a correct phase alignment between the two channels. This "Variphase" presents a phase shift between 0 and 180º, which, in combination with the phase invert switch, ensures a shift of 360º. In some situations, such as capturing a drum with two microphones, this "Variphase" control can be more practical than moving the microphone, which could create problems with other elements in the drum set. In other situations, such as that of mic-ing an electric bass amp, capturing it at the same time via the instrument, it can be more practical to move the microphone and then apply Variphase control in order to tune into the optimum phase alignment. And, of course, this tool can be used creatively in order to create new effects and results. The analogue-digital converter offers us the most common digital output connections: AES/EBU, SPDIF and optic Toslink. With a Word Clock BNC input connector we can achieve correct synchronisation with an external clock and there is even a clock termination switch, which can handle up to 24/192kHz. In internal synch mode the MICO supports frequencies of 44.1, 48 and 96 kHz. MICO guarantees pre-amp quality, providing a working tool that enables us to try for something more, whilst also featuring all the necessary analogue and digital connections so that it can be integrated into our recording centre. Even the price of €640 + VAT is attractive. MICO is very well designed.
AUDIENT BLACK SERIES: CRYSTAL-CLEAR AUDIO TRANSFORMED INTO TONAL COLOUR
Audient is world-renowned for manufacturing audio equipment that offers crystal-clear and colour-free performance. If we combine this with the variety of tonal colours we can achieve with a combination of a discrete Class circuit and a transformer, designed by the experienced David Dearden for this purpose, we have the "Black Series". The main idea is that we have a set of equipment that offers highly transparent sound, but when we wish to introduce character and colour, we certainly can do so. This system is made up of various modules housed in a special rack, offering different combinations according to our needs. There are currently five modules in the "Black Series": Black Pre, Black EQ, Black Comp, Black ADC and Black Time Machine. Black Pre: The most characteristic feature of this microphone pre-amp and line and instrument input, is its "HMX" variable control, with which we can add musically relevant harmonics to our signal, recalling the effects achieved by the classic tube circuitry designs. It incorporates a variable high-pass filter, phase inverter and precise input measurement. Black EQ: The unique feature in this 4-band equalizer is its high-pass filter and "Overtone" feature, which can add harmonics to the selected frequency. We might also mention its "Glo" control, which works as a dynamic equalizer, compressing everything that surpasses a certain width at the selected frequency. This equalizer is especially musical and adds "Tilt" control in order to achieve a tonal balance with which to keep the energy level constant, thus permitting very rapid tonal changes. Black Comp: This Class A transformer balanced optical compressor/limiter presents two circuit types: ―Overcomp‖ and ―Smooth‖. "Overcomp" allows a large amount of pre-compression to be added to the signal, in the same way as used to occur with the 'talkback' signal using the old Neve tables. This is precisely the type of compressor that was used in the consoles of the Town House studios, when Phil Collins tested out his drum kit in the stone room designed by Philip Newell and, through his earphones, was able to hear the impressive effect that would make "In the Air Tonight' one of the most innovative numbers in the history of pop music due to the super-alive sound of the drums. The "Smooth" circuit features two chains of compression, one that works as a peak limiter and another that focuses on compressing the signal more gently. Black ADC: In order to direct our signal towards the digital world, we can use this twochannel 24-bit/192kHz Analogue-Digital Converter. On the front panel we find AES/EBU, SPDIF and Toslink outputs with 0 dBFS output measurement and LED. It can be used with both the Black modules and with external sources. We also find an AES/EBU XLR output on the rear panel and a Wordclock input. Black Time Machine: This digital master clock enables us to work with various Black ADC modules or with other external digital equipment. It uses the BNC output and AES/EBU installed in the BR-10 Rack and another AES/ in the front panel. It distributes WC for Black ADC by means of an optimised clock bus.
The recipient designed to hold such a marvellous range of devices is known as the BR10 Black Rack . The Rack, which is 4 units high, holds up to 10 Black modules and features XLR input and output for each module, although the input and output is provided for the first 8 channels by means of a SubD25 connector. And the most important feature: an external power supply source measuring 2 rack units, one that is worthy of this series. Each module has a price of 470 euros + VAT and the BR-10 Rack costs 760 euros + VAT. For 1700 euros + VAT you can buy two "Black Pre's" for your rack and then add to them at a later date.
AUDIENT BLACK SERIES: CRYSTAL-CLEAR AUDIO TRANSFORMED INTO TONAL COLOUR. AUDIO WITH "HEADROOM". SERIOUS, VERY SERIOUS AUDIO. NEW SAMPLITUDE 10 PRO: OUTSTANDING QUALITY.

OTTO: A LIBRARY FOR CREATING THE SOUNDS OF THE FUTURE.
Reflexion Arts has just added OTTO to its list of represented brands. This product consists of a sound library for electronic music and HipHop producers and composers, both of which suffered discrimination until recently by the industry, having no working material available created specially for them. OTTO is designed by Otto Von Schirach, a curious figure whose most interesting facet is that of a restless musician who researches and designs his own working tools, setting the trend with his ambiences an contributing innovative ideas with his sound experiments. Here we find a music producer who works specifically for musicians and producers. OTTO is an essential working tool if we are seeking to innovate and achieve new sounds that will set the trend. This workstation is equipped with 4Gb of samples and works with Kontakt 2 Player from Native Instruments. The instruments are organised into various categories: - Construction: Individual sounds that appear in OTTO's different loops and sequences so that you can use them according to your will. - Sequence: Here we can see how OTTO uses the script editor on Kontakt 2 Player to create sequences with a very "drum machine" feel. The user can alter these sequences as he sees fit. - Kontakt 2 Loops: Loops extracted from Kontakt 2 sequences. - Platinum Loops: These loops have been created in an outside sequencer and span many different electro styles. - Performance: With loops mapped on the left and individual hits on the right, we can investigate the various possible combinations. Includes Quantize option. - Random & Experimental: Unusual sounds by the million. - Melodic: These instruments can be played like a keyboard, as all the sounds are mapped chromatically. - Cinematic & Sound Effects: "Foley" effects for the cinema and other sound effects that create very special atmospheres and climates. - Surround: Instruments created in 5.1. format.
We can access these categories from Native Instrument Kontakt 2 Player, which is included free, and we can modify surround, equalization, bpm, levels, filters and much more. Kontakt 2 Player is compatible with the Audio Units, VST, DXi, RTAS formats and also works in stand- alone mode, both on Mac and PC. In short, OTTO is not a sound library for playing pretty chords and melodies, but a library that contains inspiring sounds ranging from industrial sounds with unrecognisable sound environments to processed and re-processed drum-beats. This is undoubtedly the sound that we will hear in the best-known songs of the future. This entire sound universe is available for just 160 euros plus VAT.
AES16e preserves all of the other features of the AES16 model, in PCI-X format, enabling us to integrate multi-channel A/D and D/A converters, digital consoles and other digital equipment with a computer, either under Windows or Mac OSX operating systems. - With the optional LS-ADAT card we can even convert it into a virtual multiformat patchbay (ADAT-AES/EBU).
The first 3 models in the new London Tube Series from Audient are already out: 936 Variabe Mu Compressor 933 Mic Preamp and EQ EQP-2A passive EQ All this and much more at Stand H803 at Ifema.
SEESOUND

DPA 4017 SHOTGUN An extremely light
and small shotgun microphone that offers a shot patter very directional maintaining the characteristic DSPA's clarity. ―DPA is already strongly positioned in TV and Cinema due to our extensive catalogue of microphones‖, states Paul Koza, the Marketing Director. With the 4071, we meet the demand that requests a shotgun high-performance microphone that features a boom pole in Cinema and TV where non-desired sound suppression is essential. When a cardioid microphone is not enough directional or a miniature microphone cannot be incorporated, a shotgun microphone is the solution and we are sure that 4017 model is perfect to the task‖. DPA has carried out an extensive research and development work in order to create this high-performance shotgun microphone with an extremely smooth out-of-the-axle
response. The company has made every effort to create a very short microphone (210mm) that features a minimum weight of 71 grams. ―If you have tried to hold a microphone on a boom pole for more than 10 minutes, you'll be happy to know that model 4017 features a very small weight without sacrificing its dynamic scope and offering our clients the kind of clarity that is inherent to DPA", adds Koza. DPA is quite sure that broadcast will be the largest market for 4017, but it will be highly appreciated by freelance engineers, small radio stations and the most professional consumers market.
DPA 4080 LAVALIER CARDIOIDE
A cardioid miniature microphone that offers a maximum word intelligility for numerous applications that include broadcast, recording, conferences and live.
