Harry Hummer Chosen as New Fund-Raising President
Santa Fe, NM, Friday, Oct. 28, 2005 — Banking executive Harry Hummer has been selected as the new president of GROW Santa Fe Community College Foundation, the college’s fund-raising arm. “Santa Fe Community College does a very nice job and I look forward to helping them raise more money,” said Hummer, a GROW board member until his recent election.

Currently serving as the chair of Santa Fe Economic Development Inc., and a onetime president and chief operating officer for Chase Manhattan Mortgage Co., Hummer has worked in the banking industry for 30 years. A graduate of Princeton University, where he received his B.A., and the University of Wisconsin, where he earned an M.A., Mr. Hummer has worked with American Express, Chase Manhattan, Meriton Savings Bank and Anchor Savings Bank. “I’m pleased with our new leadership and their commitment to building support for Santa Fe Community College, its students, and programs,” said Dr. James Fries, the interim executive director of GROW.

Hummer replaces Sheila Ortego, the executive vice president of Santa Fe Community College who will continue to serve on the GROW board.

The GROW Santa Fe Community College Foundation board of directors currently includes Carole Brito, vice president of GROW and vice chair of the Santa Fe Community College Governing Board; Santa Fe Community College president Jim McLaughlin, reelected as secretary of GROW; Heidi Tilton, vice president and senior trust team manager at Wells Fargo Bank and newly elected as treasurer; Rob Hoffman, a financial adviser with UBS Financial Services, Inc.; Charles E. “Chuck” Pacheco, office leader for the University of California at Los Alamos National Laboratory and a former member of the Santa Fe Community College Governing Board; and Kathy Rael, a certified public accountant and chief executive officer of Rael, With, and Ahrendsen.
