Cars play a large role in television history and there are some shows that without a
certain vehicle would simply not be the same. In most cases, it was the vehicle that stole
the show and essentially become one of the main characters in the show as well. While
there is no shortage of shows that featured a car, there are some that just stand out
from the crowd and had the audience wanting to get behind the wheel.
The Top Cars Seen on TV
While most lists of this kind are probably focused on fast and flashy cars, we decided to
take a different spin on this list. Our version of the top cars seen on TV has more to do
about uniqueness and the role that the vehicle played on the show.
How iconic is the vehicle? What would the show be like without the car? How much
attention did the vehicle get from viewers? These are the questions that were the
determining factor in our list.
Here are the top 5 cars seen on TV that has left a lasting impression on everyone who
watched the show:
1. The Batmobile: Without a doubt, this has to be one of the most popular and
iconic vehicles ever made. While it has gone through a number of aesthetic
changes over the years, the Batmobile definitely stands out in a crowd. Believe it
or not, the original car actually cost more than $250,000 to create – but looking
back, it was worth every penny.
2. The Mystery Machine: Yes, we know, it’s from a cartoon. But, who doesn’t love
the Mystery Machine from Scooby Doo? There are a lot of questions about this
iconic van over the years. But, one thing was for sure, it was the perfect choice
of vehicle to transport the team and the seemingly never ending supply of
Scooby snacks.
3. The Knight Rider Car: How can you have a list of great TV cars without having
one that can actually talk? A Firebird Trans Am that was known for its technology
and endless supply of gadgets and gizmos, this was a car that everyone wished
they could actually take for a drive.
4. The A-Team Van: The A-Team van was just cool; plain and simple. While there
was nothing flashy about the van, there was no doubt that it was up for
anything. How many times did we see Mr. T smash through something? And,
what was the deal with that red spoiler?
5. Magnum P.I. Ferrari GTS: Everything about this car is beautiful and it was by far
one of the coolest cars ever on television. I think we all wanted to be Magnum
when it came time for him to jump in the Ferrari and speed around through the
streets of Hawaii. And, if you had the money, this was actually a car that you
could buy; even though most of us only dreamed we could own a car this cool.
