KNOX WALKUP RECEIVES BELLOTTI AWARD FROM NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF ATTORNEYS GENERAL
Nashville, TN (July 31, 2008) - Knox Walkup, former Tennessee Attorney General and a partner in the law firm of Wyatt, Tarrant & Combs, LLP, was presented the Francis X. Bellotti Award during the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG) 2008 summer meeting in Providence, RI.
Walkup is only the seventh recipient of this award, which recognizes a former Attorney General whose work has furthered the mission of the nationwide attorneys general organization. Selection of the recipient is made by Attorneys General currently in office. Walkup’s nearly 20-year career in public service was marked by achievements in state and federal government positions in Tennessee and Washington, DC. Prior to his appointment as Tennessee’s Attorney General by the Tennessee Supreme Court, he served as Solicitor General of Tennessee and as Chief Counsel and Staff Director of a United States Senate subcommittee. Mr. Walkup joined Wyatt, Tarrant & Combs in 1999 and chairs its Practice Group on Governmental Affairs and Regulated Industries. He represents a diverse range of clients, including major corporations across the United States, in a wide variety of regulatory and litigation matters. He is also a consultant to the National State Attorneys General Program at Columbia Law School.
