The Preview Investor Reporting System is a data warehouse solution for investor relations. The system
processes and outputs investor reports daily, weekly, and monthly to meet Service Level Agreements with
institutional investors. The system pulls source data nightly from the Mortgage Administration and
Reporting System (MARS) residing on an IBM AS/400 and builds a data mart using Microsoft SQL
Server. Reports are automatically generated and presented for Internet access using Microsoft Internet
Information Services and Crystal Reports. The supporting database structure was built and data
movement was enabled using Microsoft SQL Server tool sets.
The M.R.S. team designed the systems architecture, built the data mart including star schema and the
ETL process, and designed the reports. The reports are presented using Crystal Reports delivered via the
Web, allowing easy access from any location. The fully automated solution allows investors to obtain
customized reports and to analyze and view the data with greater ease and flexibility.
Because the project was MCAP’s first experience with Business Intelligence and data warehousing
technology, MCAP relied heavily on the expertise of M.R.S. MCAP has had very positive experiences
working with M.R.S., an IT solutions provider for MCAP since 1994. During development M.R.S.
demonstrated Business Intelligence competency and know-how while transferring knowledge to MCAP.
