(1888PressRelease) Dr. Christopher J. Richardson is a surgeon at Rochester General Hospital in Rochester, New
York, where he has been in practice since April of 2006. He is Board Certified in General Surgery and Fellowship,
trained in Surgery of the Hand. He has received further advanced training in Robotic Surgery and has been
performing a variety of robotic procedures since September of 2011.
Rochester, NY - Christopher Richardson, DO, FACS, a board certified general surgeon at Rochester General
Hospital in Rochester, NY, has launched a website that provides information about the various options and benefits
for those patients who may need a Cholecystectomy, or gallbladder removal surgery.
The website, http://www.cjrsurgical.com , launched February 20th 2013, provides information about Dr.
Richardson's primary area of surgical focus, as well as information on the benefits of using robotic assisted, single
incision gallbladder surgery using the da Vinci® robotic system. The website www.cjrsurgical.com, also provides
background information about Dr. Richardson and other surgical procedures he performs relative to general, hand
and robotic surgeries.
"Neither robotic surgery nor single-incision surgery is new, but combining the two to remove the gallbladder
requires additional training and special equipment," says Dr. Richardson. "To be one of the first hospitals to offer
this technically advanced surgery demonstrates Rochester General's leadership in providing patients with the most
up-to-date minimally invasive surgical options."
Dr. Richardson is one of a small group of surgeons in the country who have received training to perform the surgery.
The FDA cleared the Single-Site™ instruments for use with the da Vinci system in December of 2011.
"Since there is not a lot of public awareness for this type of procedure, I felt it was important that people who may
need gallbladder surgery had a website where they could easily obtain information about their options and the
benefits of this advanced surgical procedure," adds Dr. Richardson.
In September of 2011 became Dr. Richardson the first general surgeon in Monroe County and the greater Rochester,
NY area to use the da Vinci robotic surgical platform, and is currently the only surgeon using the single-site device
to perform gallbladder procedures.
