MegaHit Songwriter Jeffrey Steele Keynotes Road Rally 2009!
Dear Passengers,
I'm delighted to let you know that this year's Road Rally honoree and keynote will be none other than megahit songwriter,
Jeffrey Steele.
Jeffrey was on our Hit Songwriter panel six years ago and I remember thinking at the time that he'd make a great oneonone
interview. Some people dispense pearls of wisdom. Jeffrey gives over Hope diamonds. He is not to be missed!
The last time Jeffrey joined us I asked him if he would do a live show in the hotel lobby at the end of the Rally. He graciously
agreed. We had some TAXI screeners who are Alist players back him up for a fullon, electric set in the hotel lobby. Although
the Rally was officially over there were still hundreds of members there, and they were all stunned by his show.
His songs are incredible. His vocals were great, and his performance energy was unparalleled.
Days after that Rally, somebody called to tell me that they were sitting close to Jeffrey on his flight back to Nashville. They
asked him what he thought of the Road Rally. His response?
"I've been to a lot of these conventions, but the Road Rally is different. It's got soul."
We often hear that the Rally is the best convention of its kind. There are others just as large. And others get the big names on
panels too. But that "thing" that people talk about after each Rally has never been expressed better than Jeffrey said it. The Road
Rally does have soul.
It's a convention that feels like "home" to the people who come. It doesn't have the posturing and posing that you'll see elsewhere

CRITIQUES
If you have material you would like critiqued without responding to a specific listing, you’ve come to the right place. Fill out the submission form with the song title(s)
and author(s) as usual, but in place of the listing number write “CUSTOM” in capital letters.
Please include a note specifying the aspects you would like the listener to address. For example, some members like to have their craft (lyrics, rhyme, structure, etc.)
closely critiqued. Others want to know for which genre their writing is best suited (sorry, but we can’t recommend specific listings for you to pitch to). Still others want
a review of their photos, bios, package, etc.
The submission fee for Custom Critiques is $20 per song. Please include lyric sheets (if applicable), a selfaddressed, stamped envelope, and make sure to specify if you
want the tape or CD back, or just a critique. Remember, these critiques are for your own edification and development and NOT targeted for a label or publisher, and
therefore will not be forwarded.
