PART TWO
Describe your program’s assessment accomplishments since your last report was submitted. Discuss ways in which you have responded to the
CASA Director’s comments on last year’s report or simply describe what assessment work was initiated, continued, or completed.


In response to the CASA Director’s comments last year we have added and now assessed new objectives related to the University’s learning objectives so that
our program objectives include three of the four University objectives: think critically, write effectively, and speak effectively. We have data on these objectives
from direct and indirect measures and these data have resulted in curricular changes within courses as well as the “pilot testing” of a new course through the
use of a special topics number in 2011-2012.



PART THREE

Summarize changes and improvements in curriculum, instruction, and learning that have resulted from the implementation of your assessment
program. How have you used the data? What have you learned? In light of what you have learned through your assessment efforts this year and
in past years, what are your plans for the future?

Significant program changes have been made in previous years based on assessment data. These include the approval of two new courses: “Diversity in
Organizations” and “Leadership in Organizations.” A third course, OPD 1000 was replaced by a new course, OPD 3000/”Learning Analysis Through
Portfolio Development.” The program committee has begun using assessment data to examine the-relationships between instructional modules within different
courses and how these relate to program goals and objectives across courses so that our courses articulate in a clear and thoughtful way. In particular, this has
resulted in adoption of a new textbook for OPD 4840, additional presentations and new feedback approaches in OPD 4800, and modification of how material is
presented or emphasized in OPD 4830 , OPD 4835, and OPD 4870. Finally, a new course on written communication in organizations is being pilot tested
through a special topics course in 2011-2012.
