Welcome and Introductions – Dr. Roy Alson/Dr. Jay Wyatt

Approval of February 16, 2012 minutes

Committee Reports
   Regional Disaster Preparedness Update- Kim Edmisten
    Introduced OEMS healthcare coalition concept, OEMS five year work plan for
    healthcare capabilities, and strategic planning and healthcare coalition committee
    will be working on that plan in the upcoming year.
        o Grant Update – Jason Stogner
            New grant application this year and it is based off of 8 capabilities that
            align with the new Public Health capabilities. The grant is focused on a 5-
            year work plan and it was submitted on August 1st and presented to
            NCOEMS on August 10th. We have received preliminary approval for the
            projects with final approval pending minor revisions and modifications.
            One of the main projects will be to a complete program assessment,
            analyzing current capabilities and identifying any programmatic gaps.
        o SMAT II Update - Jerry Tysinger
            February 18-19: PR Event at DCCC
            March 2-3: SMAT Class in Randolph
            March 29: HOSA Conference in Greensboro
            April 20-22: Camp Cherokee Boy Scout Medical Coverage Event in
            Caswell County
            April 30-May 2: Statewide Exercise in Greenville, NC
            May 4-6: Cherry Point Airshow in Havelock, NC (Assist ERAC)
            May 18-20: Rehab trailer to Randolph Mass gathering
            May 19: Forsyth County/Winston Salem City Haz-Mat Exercise
            June 2: SMAT III Practical Exam (M8)
            June 16: Emergency Fest PR Event in Boone, NC
            June 26: Rehab Mission to Randolph County for Haz-Mat fire
            June 27: Full Scale Exercise in Randolph County
            June 29-July 5: Threshers Reunion Deployment in Denton, NC
            August 7: National Night Out PR Event in Lexington, NC
           o Public Health Update – Susan Sullivan
              The public health is moving from assessment to planning and
              implementation. We will continue to collaborate with partners during
              trainings and exercises. Also, collaboration with UNC Center for Public
              Health Preparedness to revise our Preparedness Coordinator orientation
              training modules and hope to have them online by end of year. Training
              Strategies for Preparedness Coordinators will include online materials and
              presentations to familiarize them with the basic content and increase their
              comfort level with the online interactive courses.
           o Special Presentation – Jason Stogner & Kim Edmisten recognized Jody
              Moore for his service as the first Chair of the Disaster Response &
              Preparedness Committee.
           o Education – Gail Kluttz
              - Securing the Airway will be a webinar on August 22; CareLink and Cone
              Health will present, Caring in Motion: An Emergency & Critical Care
              Conference on September 18; and the 3rd Annual Brenner Children’s
              Hospital Pediatric Trauma Conference will be held on October 17th.
      Injury Prevention – Vacant
      Performance Improvement – Bradley Dean/Dwayne Young
              - Planning meeting will follow the T-RAC Meeting
      NCOEMS Update – Eddie Jordan
              Emergency Medicine Today is scheduled for October 7th beginning with
              Paramedic Competition and the conference will conclude on October 10th.

Emergency Department Reports
   Forsyth Medical Center – Rick Lee
            FMC update given via powerpoint
   High Point Regional – Nicole Luther
            Behavioral Health unit will open soon. STEMI Care and local EMS
            agencies have been recognized for their care.
   Moses Cone – Jody Moore & Tamara Ellis
            Wesley Long will be holding an open house. Trauma Site visit is
            scheduled for August 28 & 29. Scheduled an ATLS class on September 7
            & 8.
   North Carolina Baptist Hospital – April Roberson
     Recognized for their CHF & Stroke designation. Trauma Site visit is scheduled
     for November 5 & 6.

Old Business
    NCATS Grant Updates – Gail Kluttz
             - Save the Rivers: Prescription Medication Disposal – Stokes County
             EMS, Brian Booe presented his work on this project.
             - Fire Safety for Home Medical Oxygen Users – Wake Forest Baptist
             Health, Donna Joyner presented her work on this project.
New Business
   EM Today/Paramedic Competition Presentations – Gail Kluttz/Dr. Alson/Dr.
     Wyatt presented the Regional Winners from the Triad RAC region with
     certificates. The recipients were Aaron Thurston, NREMT-P & Daniel Medina,
     EMT-P. We wish them success in the upcoming State Final competition planned
     for October 7th in Greensboro at EM Today.
