Foreign theatre, dance and theatre-dance productions application guidelines for inclusion in the international leg of the festival “Teatro del Mundo en Argentina 2009”
Argentina's National Theatre Board (INT) summons stage productions from the world over to participate in the International Festivals of Argentina, to be held in several cities across Argentina in October, 2009. The “Teatro del Mundo en Argentina”
The National Theatre Board was created through National Theatre Law Nº 24,800, its role being to promote and support theatrical activities throughout the country. The INT was granted ample capacity to permit the elaboration, execution and followup of theatrical policies in the whole national territory. In 2006, the National Theatre Board started to develop the project called “El Teatro del Mundo en Argentina”, which allowed Argentine and foreign productions to perform across the whole country.
The first edition of the Festival allowed 60,000 spectators to see productions from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Ecuador,Mexico, Spain, France and Italy. The Festival tour, on that occasion, included stopovers in the provinces of Mendoza, Córdoba, Salta, Corrientes, Santa Fe, Santa Cruz, Tierra del Fuego, Catamarca, Jujuy, La Pampa, Santiago del Estero and Río Negro.
The 2007 edition included productions from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Italy, Mexico, Uruguay and Venezuela, and the audience's response was identical to the first edition's. In 2009, the “Teatro del Mundo en Argentina”, which we are truly proud of, will see yet another edition. Lots of effort, imagination and undefatigable enthusiasm have gone into this project. The organizers and the casts and personalities who will visit the country share a common goal – their will to get things done, to see projects materialize, to work hard to achieve the Festival's objectives. This is a virtually unprecedented event: travelling thousands of kilometres, from north to south and from east to west, to get acquainted with very dissimilar realities and expectations. Many casts and crews will climb on a mobile trail to share the experience of traversing the most varied landscapes of Argentina, guided by the same vocation: setting dreams on stage, bringing them closer to audiences and sharing the stages of a most welcoming country.

Applications:
Applications must include the enrollment form with all the required data, plus a full DVD of the show: one single camera, unedited films with the corresponding identification tags: country of origin, group's name, play and author. The material must be submitted either personally or by post, consigning “Instituto Nacional del Teatro, Av. Santa Fe 1243, 10º piso (C.P. 1059), Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Festivales Internacionales 2009”.
The INT shall not be held responsible for eventual losses of material submitted for the Festival. The deadline for submission of entries is May 15th, 2009.
Selection process:
A team of theatrical personalities appointed by the INT will be in charge of the preselection process. The INT's Board of Directors will be in charge of the final selection.
Only productions already premiered will be eligible. The playwright's written authorization must be included. Productions linked to the INT or ruled not eligible by the National Theatre Board will not be allowed to apply.
Performances
Successful applicants will receive subsidies covering the transport cost from the city of Buenos Aires to the place where scheduled performances must be held. Also included in the subsidy will be accomodation, meals and fees to be agreed upon. Travel costs from their countries and back will not be covered.
