Job Application
The job application is one of the most important pieces of paper you will encounter when it
comes to looking for a job. To improve your chances for obtaining an interview, you must
make a positive first impression with a neat, complete & accurate application.
Tips
Make a copy of the application & complete the copy in pencil before
completing the original.
Review complete form before entering data.
Follow instructions.
Print neatly and legibly.
Avoid leaving blanks on the application. Enter N/A if a question does not apply
to you. This shows you have read the question.
List your most recent job first. Volunteer work can be listed with volunteer as
the salary.
Check your spelling.
State the specific job you are applying for. Never state that you are applying for
“anything”.
Be honest in your answers.
Complete the “final” copy using a black ink pen.
Be sure to sign and date the application.
Proofread for accuracy and neatness before turning in.
Other Information
When you request an application, make sure you greet the person politely.
Wear nice clothes when requesting an application and if granted an interview.
Driver’s License, Resident Card or Picture Identification Card – an employer
will require you to have this information. If you do not have a driver’s license,
you can go to the DMV and get a picture I.D.
