The printing is possible from every ART 2020 MOBIL in the network. The local printer port
of every ART 2020 MOBIL must be configured as network port [192.168.10.200 (P1)]. All
ART 2020 MOBILs connected within the network may communicate with each other. Only the
testing places, used, must be switched on, which means that a defective testing place never
disturbs the function of the network, or even better may be plugged off at the printer hub.

                                                                           Erstelldatum 20.08.03 8:11

In this configuration (star type wiring) the testing places may be controlled from the central
remote or service PC. Printouts can be made from every ART 2020 MOBIL within the
network and every ART 2020 MOBIL can communicate with any other ART 2020 MOBIL
within the network. Only the testing places being used must be switched on, which means
that the testing places do not influence each other and a defective testing place does not
disturb the function of the others, or even better may be plugged off at the interconnect hub.
The printer port of every ART 2020 MOBIL in the network must be configured as a
network printer port for network printing over the remote pc and the permission for
printing over network from these ART 2020 MOBILs must be established at the remote PC.
Besides that a name must be created for the network printer connected to the remote PC
( i.e.: HP Laserjet4, BROTHER HL-1640 or else)

Some helpful hints on the ART 2020 Network in general

How to find out which network protocol is used in the ART 2020 network:

Minimize the KFV Test system program and on the desktop, shown then, click on the icon
“Network neighborhood“ with the right mouse button and on the appearing “pop up“ menu
choose “Properties“.

You will get a table of properties of the computers in the network showing the ART 2020
MOBILs name ( i.e.: KFV121) and the workgroup KFV. Every computer within the network
has a name and this name must be singular to allow the clear identification of this computer
within this network. On this table it would be possible to alter the computer’s name if
computers are exchanged.

If you click on the tag Protocols you will get a listing of the installed protocols (i.e.: TCP/IP-
protocol or sometimes NetBEUI-protocol or else). Only devices using the same protocol
can communicate over the network. On a single device there could be installed more than
one protocol (only the data transfer on the network will be slowed down).

How to install another/an additional network protocol:

If you are on the Protocols card click the button “Add“ and you will get a listing of the
available protocols. Mark there the protocol you wish to add and click the ”OK“ button. Mostly
there have to be installed some programs from WINNT / I386. You can use the Windows
original CD or if you have got the record \I386 on disc C: \Setup, you may take installation
data from this record.
In a similar way protocols can be removed from the network properties, if they are not used
any more, by clicking the “Remove“ button

Put in the right address from where you wish get the I386 file and click on “Continue“, now
the new protocol will be installed. Leave the installation procedure with “Close“ and make a
restart of the computer that the new protocol gets working.

By clicking twice on “Network Neighborhood“ on the desktop with the left mouse button you
can find out if all the computers are connected within the network. Their names must be in
the displayed list (Attention this may take some minutes). With the button “refresh“ on the
“View“ menu this list can be updated to look at any time you want..

                                                2
                                                            ART 2020 NETWORK CONFIGURATIONS.doc
                                                                           Erstelldatum 20.08.03 8:11

ATTENTION!! If you make changes on the network protocols you should run the
WINDOWS SERVICE PACK (mostly Service pack 6a ) which you also can find on
C:\Setup\SP... Call it up in the Windows Explorer and run it there, do a restart of the
computer afterwards.

Addendum 1:

If you install the TCP/IP Protocol for the first time you must assign an IP-Address. For doing
this choose network properties, as described above, | Protocols | TCP/IP | Properties
And put in the following IP-Address:

IP Address: 192 . 168 . 10 . 121

Subnet Mask : 255 . 255 . 255 . 0

Standard Gateway: . . .

Where the first three numbers of the IP-Address are fixed to the KFV-Network and the fourth
is the serial number of the computer in the network (i.e.: for KFV121 → input 121 ). The
remote (Service) PC will have 100 in this place and a printer server if it is used will have 200
as fourth number. The “subnet mask“ will be created automatically by clicking on it and
should not be changed.

Addendum 2:

Installation of a Printer with Printer Server for more than one ART 2020 MOBIL testing
places. Wiring of the Network according to Figure 1.

First of all the printer server has to be configured. Just build up the whole network according
to Fig. 1. Then switch on power. The configuration of the printer server can be done from
every PC in the network and has to be done only once. If the printer server is delivered from
the hardware partner in a package with all the other testing equipment it is preconfigured
generally. Anyway here is a description how to do the configuration:

a) D-Link DP-101P+ Pocket size Ethernet Printer Server (only in conjunction with a HUB of
any type, all inputs switched to “normal”)

After building up the Network and then switching on power wait till all computers in
the network are started up. Then take the installation CD supplied with the Printer
Server, put it into the CDROM drive of any PC within the network and start the
      Windows Explorer.

Click on CDROM-Drive E: open the directory PS_Admin and then Disk1 and there run
the program “Setup.exe”, follow the instructions given there. You will get an overview
      of the installed programs:
                                                  3
                                                             ART 2020 NETWORK CONFIGURATIONS.doc
                                                                            Erstelldatum 20.08.03 8:11

Start PS_Admin v2.00 by double clicking on it and wait till the picture has built up.

Choose in the box “Configuration” ● TCP/IP Protocol and insert the TCP/IP address
as given below:

IP Address: 192 . 168 . 10 . 200

Subnet Mask : 255 . 255 . 255 . 0

Standard Gateway: . . . leave unchanged

Confirm with “OK” then chose ● Server Device and put in the Server Name “PS1”,
click away the points “Apple Talk” and “Net BEUI”, check Port Setting LPT1 and leave
with “OK” Save the setup with ● Save Configuration, confirm and leave installation
program.
Choose for safety the point ● Reset and leave setup program by clicking at “File” and
“Exit”.

Check the network connection to the Printer Server:

Open the “DOS Window“ on the desktop and put in the following string:

“ping 192.168.10.200“ + “Enter“

You must get a positive reaction four times, the first one may take a little longer. You
may also ”ping” the other devices connected to the network by using instead of 200
their appropriate IP-address numbers to test the network function.

Other settings of the Printer Server:

“telnet 192.168.10.200“ + “Enter“

Password = “Enter“, then “1“ +Enter

[Main Menu]: “1“ + “Enter“ > [Server Configuration]

1 - Server Name <PS1> ( if it is this way, leave it or else put in “1“, go to Input
line and put in this name i.e.:”PS1”),

then "0“ + "Enter“ ( Main Menu)

[Main Menu] : “2“ + “Enter“

[Port Configuration] : if 1 – PORT 1 (LPT 1) , then it is OK

“Port 1“ : (look at this and accept), then “0“ + “Enter“ ( Main Menu)

                                              4
                                                             ART 2020 NETWORK CONFIGURATIONS.doc
                                                                            Erstelldatum 20.08.03 8:11
      [Main Menu] : “3“ + “Enter“

[TCP/IP Configuration]: look at the “IP-Address“ if it is right (192.168.10.200), all
      others are meaningless.

      “0“ + “Enter“ (Main Menu)

“7“ + “Enter“ (save configuration) put this in and then leave program with “Y“ (Yes)
+“Enter“, if there is no change put in “0” and “Enter” to leave Configuration program.

You should get a message : “Verbindung mit Host verloren“ (= lost connection to
      host)

Now click away everything and the Printer Server is configured within the network.

Now all the PCs in the Network have to be configured for Network Port printing. This
configuration could have already been done by the hardware partner on delivery, or
      may be preinstalled to choose.

If you have to make this configuration, here is the description how to do : Go to
“START” | “SETTINGS” | “PRINTERS” and click with the right mouse button on the
appropriate printer symbol. Then click “properties” with the left mouse button. If there
is no icon for your model of printer you will have to install the drivers for your printer as
a “local printer“ first. If you have not got an appropriate driver, HP Laserjet4 will
mostly work if your printer has a HP emulation.

Select “Ports” and there will be shown a list of possible ports. Choose
“192.168.10.200“ for the D-Link DP-101P+ Pocket size Ethernet Printer Server, or if
you can not choose it there you should go to “Add Port” and install it there as “LPR”
port, leave the second line empty for the DP-101P+ Printer Server

Make sure that the printer you want to use is tagged as “Set as Default”, and if
everything is connected right and switched on you may print a Test Page from the
“Properties” page by clicking the appropriate button with the left mouse button. If this
test page is printed OK, printouts can be done from this computer via your network.

Now you have installed the Network Printer for this one and only PC and you will
have to do the same procedure of Printer Configuration for every PC within the
network. Print a Test Page from every PC to test your printer configuration. (Keep in
mind that the printer server only has to be configured once from any PC you wish).

b) NETGEAR PS 105 Hub combined with Printer Server (may be used in some places
but is not deliverable any more)

Make sure that all inputs of the Hub are switched to “Normal” not “Uplink”

Start the “Windows Explorer” and there the program IPSetup.exe. You will find this
program on a CD Rom delivered with the print server or on a Floppy disk. On some
testing places the hardware partner has copied it to the File C:\Setup\NETGEAR on
your hard disk, and you may start it from there.

                                                5
                                                           ART 2020 NETWORK CONFIGURATIONS.doc
                                                                          Erstelldatum 20.08.03 8:11

Start this program and you will be led through the installation procedure. For “Device
Name“: PS . . . . . put in the Number you find on the bottom plate of the Printer
Server Hub

After that you must put in the right IP address / Subnet mask into the empty spaces
provided by the setup routine :

IP Address: 192 . 168 . 10 . 200

Subnet Mask : 255 . 255 . 255 . 0

Standard Gateway: . . . ...............leave as it is

Confirm with “Enter” and you will get a positive message.

You may also “ping” the other partners connected in the network with their IP address.
I.e.: “ping 192.168.10.[PC Serial No.]“...for all the PCs within the Network or for
example: “ping 192.168.10.100“.. for a Remote PC if there is one

Now all the PCs in the Network have to be configured for Network Port printing. This
configuration could have already be done by the hardware partner on delivery, or may
be preinstalled to choose.

If you have not got an appropriate driver, HP Laserjet4 will
work mostly if your printer has a HP emulation.

Select “Ports” and there will be shown a list of possible ports. Choose
“192.168.10.200, P1“ for the NETGEAR PS 105 Hub combined with Printer Server, or
if you can not choose it there you should go to “Add Port” and install it there as “LPR”
port. For the NETGEAR PS 105 HUB put in “192.168.10.200“ and in the second line
“P1“.

                                            6
                                                                  ART 2020 NETWORK CONFIGURATIONS.doc
                                                                                 Erstelldatum 20.08.03 8:11

Make sure that the printer you want to use is tagged as “Set As Default”, and if
everything is connected right and switched on you may print a Test Page from the

have to do the same procedure of Printer Configuration for every PC within the
network. Print a Test Page from every PC to test your printer configuration. (Keep in
mind that the printer server only has to be configured once from any PC you wish).
