Tilt shift photography

							What is tilt shift photography? Well, tilt shift photography has to do
with the ability to tilt or raise the lens in relation to the back of camera
where the image is going to be focused. So when you tilt the lens,
you're pointing it at a slightly different angle from the normal straight
head-on approach and then when you shift the lens, you're moving it
upwards or downwards to achieve the desired effect. So to do tilt shift
photography these days, you need to get special tilt shift lens, that’s
the traditional way, there are a lot of other ways though, these lenses
attach your digital SLR and allow you to change the view angle or
shift the lens upward and downward to achieve the desired effect.
Most people find these lenses to be entirely too expensive and I
happen to agree, so I’m going to give you some cheap techniques that
you can try out.
The first technique that I tried out was basically removing the lens
from your body and trying to move it, tilt it and shift it manually with
your hands. While I didn't get a real tilt shifty kind of look with this
technique, what I did get was some really interesting light leaks. Some
of the people that I've actually seen telling other folks to try this out,
said that you really have to practice, you almost have to hinge the lens
on your fingers and move around ever so slightly, but when I did, I
didn't really see the real part for tilt shift effect that I was looking for,
but what I did end up with was some extremely creative interesting
looking footage and photographs.
If nothing else, I found that the light leak effect on this particular
technique to be extremely beautiful so if for nothing else, this would
work for some wonderfully beautiful light leak footage.
With this technique, I created some really awesome and really random
photographs and I enjoyed that, ALOT actually. So many people are
just worried about what’s the best camera, what’s the best lens and it’s
like, who cares! If you just take some of the equipment that you
already have, you can create some of the most awesome stuff and
you’ll have your friends, your colleagues and your co-workers be like,
dude, how did you do that? And you can just say, uum, photographic
trickery! And then leave them to be amazed.
