					LOCAL POLICING AND PARTNERSHIPS DEPARTMENT

Police Enquiry Officer, Torquay (18.5 hours per week)

Salary - £17,188 to £18,343 per annum (£8,594 to £9,171 pro rata per annum) plus
12.5% shift allowance.

The successful applicant will also be eligible to claim for weekend enhancement as
applicable.

Applications are invited for the post of Police Enquiry Officer based at Torquay
Police Station. The role also requires the post holder to work at other Police Stations
Enquiry Offices within a 15 mile radius of Torquay (currently Newton Abbot and
Totnes) to provide resilience, therefore the ability to travel between police stations is
essential.

The principal responsibility of this role is to provide a professional and effective
frontline service to all who attend or contact our police enquiry offices, resolving
enquiries at the first point of contact, wherever possible, promoting reassurance,
confidence and trust in our service at all times by making every contact count.

Working in a busy and often challenging environment, applicants must have a
proven customer-focused approach to dealing with people from a wide variety of
backgrounds. Experience of demonstrating verbal and written communication skills
are essential. It is essential that applicants possess the proven ability to work in
challenging and difficult circumstances, often unsupervised, and to tight timescales.
Evidence of working effectively as part of a team together with evidence of
administrative and keyboard skills including knowledge of Microsoft products are
also essential.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake role specific training as
indicated in the role profile.

This post is subject to basic vetting clearance (BC).
