There is currently a growing interest in diet and nutrition in our daily lives. This is evident by the large number of television programmes discussing the topic. There has also recently been a concern about the effect that being over weight can have on our children. This course is a basic introduction to nutrition and what it means to eat healthily. The course can lead onto the CIEH Level 2 Award in Nutrition. What should I be able to do by the end of this course?    State how diet can have a positive effect on health Name and identify a variety of nutrition terminology Follow simple step by step instructions to prepare & plan for changing to a healthier diet  Be able to use appropriate information to make informed choices on diet and health with support Participate in discussion to share ideas within the group  Is this course for me? (Including any entry requirements) To get the best from this course you should be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English/including numerical information This course is open to anyone with an interest in food, diet and health. There are no entry requirements. If you are involved in preparing or buying food for yourself or your family this course could be for you. The course would also be of particular interest to people who wish to follow a career in catering, care, sport, or other occupations where a basic knowledge of nutrition is required What equipment will I need and what will it cost? Pen and paper may be useful to make your own notes. How will I know how well I am doing? Your tutor will monitor your progress by observing you in class and talking to you informally about your needs. How will I know I have achieved on this course? The course will be informally assessed and your tutor will provide you with information on your progress. What can I do after this course? Participants may choose to follow the CIEH Level 2 Award in Nutrition after completing the taster course. The CIEH course is accredited.
