On Campus at Xavier...
• The state-of-the-art Cintas Center, which opened in 2000, includes a 10,250-seat arena for men’s and women’s bas-
ketball and volleyball. In addition to athletics, the arena is home to Xavier commencement ceremonies and other major
campus events. It is also widely used for business and community events.

• Opened in the spring of 2002, the Gallagher Student Center is a state-of-the-art student center that includes a computer
lab, office and resource space for Xavier’s 80-plus student clubs and groups, a performing arts center, recreation areas and
                  a variety of food outlets.

                                                     • The galvanizing component of Xavier’s strategic plan is the Aca-
                                                       demic Quadrangle (left). The proposed project is a four-part,
                                                      student-focused endeavor that reshapes campus, provides new

Championship Athletics...
• Since 1998, Xavier athletics teams have won 13 Atlantic 10 Championships and competed in 25
NCAA Tournament events, which includes the 2001 volleyball team’s trip to the NCAA.

• In 2004, the men’s basketball team reached the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament, after win-
ning four games in four days (including an upset of nationally-ranked No. 1 Saint Joseph’s) in the
A-10 Championship. XU has won three of the last six A-10 men’s hoops titles.

                           • The women’s basketball team captured both the A-10 Regular Sea-
                           son and Tournament titles in 2001 and celebrated the 2007 Atlantic 10
                            Championship on the Cintas Center Floor (left).

                             • The Musketeers get tremendous fan support, averaging nearly 10,000
                             for men’s basketball games at the Cintas Center on campus, which opened in 2000.

                              • Academically, XU student-athletes have been
                               selected to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Confer-
                               ence Team 24 times, with seven being honored
                                as A-10 Student-Athletes of the Year.

                                 • Since 1989, Xavier has had 12 student-ath-
                                  letes named CoSIDA Academic All-America
                                   First Team, including three in the past three

Xavier’s Golf Facilities...
                           Oasis Golf Club
                                        An impressive Arnold Palmer-designed course
                           in the Cincinnati suburb of Loveland, Oasis Golf Club is a
                           6,921-yard par-72 layout and serves as the home of the
                           XU men’s golf team. The golf and conference center is
                           also the site of the annual Xavier Invitational.
                                        The course, which opened in 1997, features
                           all the hallmarks of Ohio golf. Its 18 holes offer a true
                           test to every golfer with a mix of tree-lined fairways,
                           links-style heather, undulating greens and water coming
                           into play on 10 holes.



                           Four Bridges
                           Country Club
                                       Four Bridges Country Club in Liberty Town-
                           ship, Ohio serves as the home course for the XU women’s
                           golf team. The Four Bridges world class championship
                           golf course, designed by Golf World’s first ever “Designer
                           of the Year”, Robert E. Cupp, opened its entire 18 holes in
                           June of 2000.
                                       Ranging in length from approximately 7,230
                           yards from the medal tees to 5,122 from the forward
                           tees, the challenging Robert Cupp design will inspire golf-
                           ers of every skill level. The course is woven through the
                           200 acres of Four Bridges Country Club creating character
                           and subtlety. Streams, waterfalls, sparkling lakes, lush
                           landscaping, waste bunkering, wildflowers, two double
                           greens, strategically placed sand traps are all part of the
                           unique design.



                                              Cintas Center
                                                The state-of-the-art Cintas Center on
                                            the campus of Xavier University, which
                                  opened for the 2000-01 academic year, includes
                a 10,250-seat arena, home to the men’s and women’s basketball
         teams as well as the volleyball team. One of the finest on-campus arenas
                                                    in the entire nation, the facility
                                                    features a full-size practice
                                                    gymnasium, an athletic training
                                                    room and a strength condition-
                                                    ing room utilized by the XU
                                                    athletic programs.
                                                         Not just a sports arena, the
                                                    facility is the setting for com-
                                                    mencement as well as outside
                                                    exhibits, concerts, trade shows,
                                                    weddings and family entertain-
                                                    ment events. The Cintas Center
                                                    doors are less than 200 yards
                                                    from Xavier’s residence halls.

                                                             1996), he also won the Ohio Mid-Amateur Championship in 1995 and 1998, and quali-
                                                             fied seven times for the US Amateur (1970, 1971, 1987, 1991, 1993, 1995, 1996).
                                                                    In addition to his teaching at area high schools, Elfers was active in coaching
                                                             both golf and basketball. After one year at Miami University, Elfers earned a degree in
                                                             math from Ohio State in 1972 while earning three letters as a golfer. He then earned
                                                             his master’s in physical education from Miami in 1976.
                                                                    Elfers and his wife Janet live in Loveland. Their son Kyle is 31, and their 28-year-
                                                             old daugher Mary is a Xavier graduate.
