The New Hampshire Department of Transportation has HIGHWAY MAINTAINER I/II positions

SCOPE OF WORK: Highway Maintainers operate and service mechanized highway equipment used
for the upkeep of public highways, and to perform highway maintenance activities and emergency traffic
services in a highway district or turnpike system of the Department of Transportation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (I):
Education: Completion of eighth grade or its equivalent.
Experience: Three months of work experience preferably in a field related to highway maintenance.
License/Certification: Applicant must possess a valid driver’s license from his/her state of residence.
The applicant’s Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards as established by the
hiring agency. The applicant must obtain a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate
endorsements prior to completion of the probationary period.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (II):
Education: Completion of a two-year high school course, or G.E.D. equivalent.
Experience: One year of experience in the operation of light motor driven equipment.
License/Certification: Must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate
endorsements. The applicant’s Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards as
established by the hiring agency.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  A pre-employment urinalysis drug screen is required.
  It is preferred that the applicant; live or be willing to relocate within 20 minutes travel time of the
    assigned patrol headquarters. Applicant must have a telephone or acceptable means of
    communication and acceptable driving record.
  Preference will be given to candidates who possess a high school diploma, or G.E.D. equivalent.
