Consul General Roberto bio by RTZ4ZI


									Roberto Powers assumed his post as Consul General at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo,
Egypt, in August 2009. He most recently served as a Diplomat-in-Residence at
Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida, and as the Deputy Chief of Mission
at the U.S. Embassy in Khartoum, Sudan.

 Since joining the Foreign Service in 1986, he has served tours of duty at the
following posts: Seoul, Korea; Milan, Italy; Washington, DC; Kinshasa, Democratic
Republic of the Congo; Damascus, Syria and Casablanca, Morocco.

 Mr. Powers has received numerous awards from the Department of State,
including two superior honor awards. He is the 2001 recipient of the Barbara M.
Watson Award for Consular Excellence
