Simmons College School of Social Work (SSW) is now accepting applications for two positions;
MSW Program Director and an Assistant Professor, tenure-track. The Simmons School of Social
Work offers Degrees at the Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral level (BSW, MSW, PhD).
Overview:
The Simmons School of Social Work offers the MSW degree with clinical specializations in
Child /Family/Schools, Mental Health and Addictions, Trauma and Interpersonal Violence, and
Health and Aging. The Doctoral Program leads to the PhD degree in practice scholarship and
research. In addition, Simmons offers certificate programs in Urban Leadership, Trauma, and
EMDR. SSW recently established an interdisciplinary opportunity with the Harvard School of
Public Health, which offers the MSW/MPH or PhD/MPH degree programs. The school has also
developed a new BSW degree program.
The Simmons School of Social Work is the oldest social work school in the United States, with a
distinguished legacy spanning more than 100 years. Simmons offers a highly rated educational
experience for students and a supportive environment for innovative and interdisciplinary applied
research. The School of Social Work houses the newly formed Center for Applied Community
Research, and is one of five graduate schools incorporated with Simmons College.
Simmons College is located in the heart of Boston's world-renowned Longwood Medical Area
which includes the Harvard Schools of Medicine, Dental Medicine and Public Health as well as
the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Dana Farber Cancer
Institute, Joslin Diabetes Center and the Children's Hospital Boston. Cultural institutions
including the Museum of Fine Arts, Isabella Stuart Gardner Museum, and Fenway Park are
among its local neighbors.

Specific information about each position:
MSW PROGRAM DIRECTOR:
Simmons School of Social Work is seeking a dynamic leader to direct its Master of Social Work
Program focused on Clinical Social Work. This is an open-rank tenure-track twelve-month
faculty appointment. Salary is competitive and commensurate with academic preparation and
experience. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, administration and organization of
the MSW Program including curriculum development and budget management; continuing
program accreditation, renewal, and evaluation; supervising and evaluating faculty and staff;
engaging in teaching, research, and college and community service; teaching one course in the
MSW Program each semester. Requirements include an MSW degree and DSW or PhD in
Social Work or related field; demonstrated, successful academic administrative experience;
leadership experience in CSWE accreditation; minimum of two years of MSW practice
experience; exemplary record of teaching, research, and service in social work education;
excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The preferred candidate will have an
understanding of current trends in clinical social work practice, including knowledge of emerging
health care systems and their relationship to clinical social work services.
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR TENURE-TRACK
The Faculty seeks a talented and innovative tenure-track scholar prepared to teach across at least
two content areas at the Master's and Doctoral levels while conducting applied research. .
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, a commitment to research, scholarly publication,
and the potential to obtain external funding. We seek candidates who have experience,
knowledge, and sensitivity to the needs of culturally diverse and oppressed populations.
Requirements: The successful candidate should have an earned doctorate in social work or a
related social science by July 1, 2013, an MSW degree from an accredited program, and two or
more years of post-MSW practice experience.
