Prepare By: Cindy
1. Warm-up: Teacher shows a picture of a spider. Teacher
i) Are you afraid of spiders?
ii) Tell us about the scariest spider you’ve ever seen!
iii) What did it look like?
iv) Where was it?
v) Where does a spider live?
2. Teacher introduces the characters in the story ‘Speedy
Spider’ by showing the picture of the book cover on page
19 of the textbook. Teacher introduces the words ‘title’,
‘author’ and ‘illustrator.’
3. Teacher tells the story. Teacher points to the pictures on
page 20-21 and gets pupils to talk about the characters by
i) Where do the animals live?
ii) What sounds do they make?
iii) Can you describe the animals? How many legs does
a dog / cow / hen / spider have?
4. Teacher explains the words ‘rain’ and ‘web’ by doing
actions / gestures and pointing to the pictures. Teacher
draws pupils’ attentions to the sound ‘ng’ in the words
‘spinning’, ‘raining, ‘strong’ and ‘blowing.’

5. Closure: Teacher plays the song ‘Incy Wincy Spider.’
