Stipendiary Steward).

RACE 1 (R220) LITTLE MESTER HANDICAP, Maiden - 1100M

FINAL APPROACH, a course scratching as it had sustained bruising to its near fore foot,
will be required to undergo a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

wide on the home turn.

GALACTIC NEBULA (TM Wan) laid inwards rounding the home turn.

Near the 200M, HOLY SMOKE (H Barnabas) laid inwards, obliging its rider to stop and
straighten. A post-race veterinary examination of HOLY SMOKE revealed no obvious
abnormality.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of MADE IN HEAVEN (K
Eirwan), Trainer Dr SH Tan advised the Stewards that he instructed Jockey K Eirwan to
get a good jump, allow the gelding to find its feet and race where it is comfortable.
Trainer Dr SH Tan further stated that in a small field today, he expected MADE IN
HEAVEN to perform well enough to be in the finish. However he believed that the
performance of the gelding was disappointing today. His explanation was noted. Jockey
K Eirwan concurred with the instructions and advised the Stewards that he was forced to
race 3 wide when he was unable to cross onto the rail. Jockey K Eirwan further stated
that when he asked for an effort from MADE IN HEAVEN, the gelding did not respond
as expected. His explanation was noted. Trainer Dr SH Tan was advised that if he detects
any abnormality with MADE IN HEAVEN after cooling down, he would be expected to
report this to the Stewards. Trainer Dr SH Tan was also informed that the Stewards will
be monitoring the performance of MADE IN HEAVEN in future. A post-race veterinary
examination of MADE IN HEAVEN revealed no obvious abnormality. The gelding was
impounded.

When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of RIE’S PET, Trainer
Dr SH Tan advised the Stewards that when RIE’S PET was having its first start on 18th
December 2011 at PNTC, RIE’S PET had missed the start on that occasion and traveled
back in the field and ran home to finish a credible fifth. Trainer Dr SH Tan stated that on
its second start on 23rd January 2012 at SLTC, the gelding was ridden on the pace,
however, began to tire in the straight and just hung on for third placing. He said in its last
start on 5th February 2012 at PNTC, again RIE’S PET was ridden on the pace, however
was disappointing after racing keenly, had faded to finish twelfth and beaten 9 ½ lengths.
Trainer Dr SH Tan subsequently advised the Stewards today prior to the race that he had
instructed RIE’S PET to be ridden back in the field, similar to its first start and to get
cover. He further stated that he was not confident today and was not quite sure of how the
gelding would perform. His explanation was noted and his attention was drawn to the
Rules regarding in and out running.
