“First impressions are lasting impressions. That being the case, Dana LaCroix has nothing to fear.” The Performing Songwriter Magazine – Nashville, TN “After two songs, the beautiful Canadian…had the whole room in the palm of her hand with her unique, irresistible charm. The best concert of the season.” Roskilde Amts Avis – Denmark “LaCroix‟s pure pristine pipes (have) Amy Grant overtones….With an uncanny ability to find the heart of a song, LaCroix is really on to something.” The Daily Freeman – Kingston, NY Three albums, songwriting credits for a recent John Turturro film and touring activities covering Canada, Europe and the US have brought Dana LaCroix recognition as one of today’s most promising singer/songwriters. With a solid background in roots and folk music and a youth spent listening to the great pop and R&B artists of the 70's and 80's, LaCroix combines lyric sophistication with simple, well-crafted melodies, creating songs that are at once thoughtful and accessible. Originally from Canada, Dana LaCroix has been garnering enthusiastic praise from audiences and critics alike since her first cd, the country and blues-tinged, 'Pride'. Selected as a Top-12 release by the Performing Songwriter Magazine, 'Pride' set the groundwork for LaCroix's touring activities, which now extend from Canada, to northern Europe and the US. With a solid background in roots and folk music and a youth spent listening to the great R&B and pop artists of the 70's and 80's, LaCroix's live show is a mixture of catchy original tunes and soulful interpretations of songs by such iconic artists as Leonard Cohen and Keb Mo'. Her most recent release, entitled „Faith In You’ has garnered enthusiastic reviews from the print media and has found its way to radio playlists in the US, Canada, Europe and Australia. With Faith In You, LaCroix brings new aspects of her vocal and songwriting talent to light. A departure from her debut release, Faith in You blurs the line between roots and pop stretching from poignant acoustic ballads to driving, bass-heavy tunes, a la Bonnie Raitt. Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, LaCroix was weaned on the music of folk legends such as Leadbelly, Woody and Arlo Guthrie and Pete Seeger. Her father, a former singer who performed with Canadian vocal group, The Halifax Three, (which included the recently deceased Denny Doherty, lead singer of the Mamas and the Papas), was her earliest musical influence. One of Dana’s first experiences with 3-part harmony was listening to the different voices on her Dad’s old LPs and trying to guess which was his. After spending several years working the Canadian circuit, LaCroix relocated to New York City, where she put her versatility to work as a side-musician, honing her skills as a performer and multi-instrumentalist. During her early years in New York, Dana had the opportunity to open shows for many of her idols, including Johnnie Johnson, Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers, Blues Traveler, The Spin Doctors and Zydeco superstar, C.J.Chenier. Since the release of her first Cd, Pride, Dana has begun forging a name for herself as a singer songwriter of note. The Performing Songwriter Magazine chose Pride as a Top Ten release and Faith In You is receiving excellent reviews from both print and radio media in Canada and the US. In Europe the press has been equally enthusiastic, covering LaCroix’s concert appearances with consistently glowing reviews. Sought-after for her songs as well as for her live performances, Dana has delivered material to artists and feature films in Canada, the US and Europe, including BMG Holland recording artist, Hind, and European film director, Nicolas Winding Refn, who featured two songs from Pride in his mystery thriller, 'Fear X', starring John Turturro.
