This week there have been two such incidents: a) Wednesday – two pupils from Lawnswood were approached by a man near Tinshill Club, Tinshill lane, and asked for the telephone numbers and addresses. One girl gave her details. The man was slim, white British, approx 23 years old, 5’4” tall. He had short brown hair in a messy style. He was wearing a brown leather jacket. He smelled of drink and was carrying a knife. b) Thursday – two of our children were approached by a man in a red landrover on their way to school. He offered them a lift. He was white, approximately 40 years old, balding and wearing a jumper. He had 3 dogs in the back of his car. They refused and went to a local bakers. The police were informed and the hotline message was cascaded to all schools Following the notices in the last two Newsletters with regards to children being at school by 8.55am, I would like to thank those parents who have been unavoidably late and signed their child/ren into the late book. This system does seem to be working well as we do not have the amount of discrepancies that we were experiencing with registers. Please do try to ensure that your child arrives at school in time to join their class on their respective playground; we do understand that some days are worse than others for traffic

The Strangest Creature, By Theo Griffin – Year One Deep in a cave, far underground, There’s a creature we once found: One silvery tail, two flat eyes, three enormous feet, That’s a surprise! four bushy ears, five sharp teeth, six wet wings – smelly underneath, 100 golden whiskers, a body that’s green – it’s the strangest creature that we’ve ever seen!
Butter Cross Stall – tomorrow, the youth of our parish will be selling all kinds of goodies on the Butter Cross Stall, aiming to raise funds for the Youth Co-ordinator’s position in the parish. Please support them if you are passing through town Reception: The children have all enjoyed the story „The Lighthouse Keeper‟s Lunch‟ and acting it out. We all tried mustard sandwiches – perhaps they can tell you why! It was to do with the story. Please can we ask you to give party replies to the child / parent concerned directly as it can be very time consuming for us to sort them out. Thank you – Mrs Brook & Miss Procter Year One: We have enjoyed listening to poems this week, and the children even made up their own about strange creatures! They tasted lots of different fruits on Monday; I wonder what they will try next week???? Ms Newsome & Mrs Dykes Year Four: Year 4 had a fun day on Thursday when they visited the Sainsbury's building site. All of them received a Tshirt, hard hat and a goodie bag to keep! During the visit we learnt about the dangers of building sites, met Ivor Goodsite, sat in the driving seat of a digger and got to build a brick wall!!! We also found out that the new St. John Ambulance building, alone, is costing £480 000 and the whole of the Sainsbury's project will cost £15 million pounds!!! Thank you to Mrs Ostrowski, Mrs Lenik and Mrs Binstead for coming with us Mrs Harvey, Mrs Bates, Miss Mallott & Mrs Cheetham Year Six: We were treated to a Crown Green bowling experience on Monday. Volunteers at Wharfe Meadows Bowling Club kindly gave up their time to show is the skills needed to expertly “roll your wood to your jack with a bit of bias”. One of the instructors commented that his group had the best bowlers he‟d seen from a school in 5 years! Mr Garden & Mrs Pratt
