Page 2 Children know their bodies Use a child‟s appetite to guide how much food they need for activity and growth. Don‟t try and force children to finish their plate or give sweets/dessert as rewards as this may lead to overeating problems later on. Instead offer a variety of healthy foods consistently. Children do not eat the same amount of food every day and the amount of food a child may need depends on what else has been eaten during the day.

When kids get a healthy breakfast they have the energy to play and be alert in class. So what can you serve as a healthy breakfast for your kids?  Wholemeal or wholegrain toast or fresh bread, with margarine spread plus a topping, such as jam, tomato, reduced-fat cheese, peanut butter or baked beans  breakfast cereal, low fat milk and fruit  rice or noodles on their own or with lean meat or vegetables  reduced-fat yoghurt, fruit, raisin bread. Serve breakfast with a glass of water or milk to get children hydrated.

Donations for Nepal
I will be taking Lily to Nepal for 2 th weeks from 26 September. If anyone would like to donate warm children‟s clothing (babies to early teens) to distribute to village and street children, it would be greatly appreciated. Only light weight clothing eg: fleeces, parkas, fleece track pants, light weight warm baby clothes would be suitable due to weight restrictions. We th would need them by 20 September. Please drop any donations at the back of the hall. Thank you.

Drink Water to Quench a Thirst Water makes for the healthiest drink for both adults and children. It is cheap, doesn‟t add extra kilojoules and thirst quenching. Aim for between 5 to 8 drinks of water a day.
