General News

THE SEASON HAS STARTED

All grades except U14’s, U16’s and Seniors 1st have now started their season.

URGENT – About Holidays, Sickness

As a club we have to pay a default fee of $50 juniors ($100 seniors) if we don’t give notice to WRL prior to 12noon on each Friday before a game. It’s really important that you let your coach or manager know if your are:

A) Going to be away over the holidays please advise your coach today if you can’t play and when you are available for training. B) If you are sick or away for a Tangi/funeral or for any other reason. This is sometimes hard if it happens on the day of the game but please let your coach/manager know anyway. We have all been on the receiving end of a team not turning up to play please let us show some respect for the opposition players/parents and let them know as early as possible that they don’t have a game. It also shows respect for your own team when you let them know you can’t be there for the game.

Website
www.harbourcityrugbyleague.com
We’ve now got the website up and running and it looks awesome, there are some amazing photos from 2006, and soon will be some from this year!!! We still need your help!! We need Managers to send in their blurbs, results and stats (this applies to the newsletters as well!!), and we need more info about the history of the club.

We will also have the draw, results, and stats as soon as possible, and we are working on HCRL merchandise, such as beanies, tracksuits, hoodies and polos for you all to wear!!!

More players Please!!

We have the correct numbers of players now but need more in case of injuries.U14’s and 16”s are NOW training at Liardet St (Upper Macalister Park) under lights from 6pm to 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We are doing fitness training with the Seniors, then game plan after. The lights ARE up and running

Boots

We have a selection of used boots available in good condition. Please check with us if you need some. We ask that you return them at the end of the season if in good nick and if yours have got too small some else could use them.

We’ve been lucky enough to get a grant from UNISON TRUST to cover part of our affiliation fees to Wellington Rugby League. A big thanks to them so parents and senior players, if you’re in town, have a drink or a meal at the

Chairman’s Report

Occidental on Lambton Quay as a thank you. We still have to find the balance yet, so let’s get the subs coming in which helps pays our affiliation fees which allows us to play. A big welcome this week to Gabe Giddens who has come to Harbour City after being involved with North’s Premiers last year. Good to see him with us and he will help with all International grades teams and especially the under 16 grade, once Wellington Rugby League has it up and running. A big thanks to all who attended their coaching grades, it is great that our club now has coaches who have all sat their grades and I myself enjoyed and learned a lot from attending the 3 Day Senior Club Coach (Level 3) Course at Massey in Palmerston North. It means our players are learning from coaches who are qualified which has to be good for our club. Lastly the Website is up and running and is looking good. We should have merchandise on sale very soon, so keep and eye out on the website for beanies, caps, polos, t-shirts and hoodies all at great prices and help support our club.
