Spring newsletter
7-11yr groups (Mon and Thurs 4 – 5pm)
The comedy unit has been completed and seems to have been loved by all! The group picked up the basic skills of how to make an audience laugh and particularly enjoyed the sessions on slapstick and those they had with special guest, music performer Guy Guerrini from the cast of our Primary School’s show ‘First the Worst, Second the Best.’
12–15yr groups (Mon and Thurs 5–6.30pm)
I think it’s fair to say that the two groups grasped the notion of comedy and created some surreal and obscure pieces; where did their minds go?? We’ve laughed, cringed and been very confused - from the rule of 3 to Comedy of Manners, Slapstick to Serious Man V Funny Man – what a strange and yet enlightening time we’ve had!
16-18 yr group (Thurs 6.45- 8.15pm)
After months of guessing I was finally allowed to reveal to the group the great project we had lined up; performing street theatre at the opening of The Radio One Big Weekend on 9th and 10th May at Lydiard Park – we’re planning Scarecrows, masked Sports Days and all sorts of fun entertainment to please the crowds. If you are lucky enough to get a ticket then please do come and support us! We’re off to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival again in August with 12 young people from this group and 3YT as part of ‘Next Generation Swindon’. This project is aimed at expanding the experience of young people who are likely to go onto study the arts in further education, and potentially become the practitioners of tomorrow!
3YT ‘The Forgotten Odyssey’
Busy, busy, busy!!!! We’ve been to Cheltenham and Salisbury to support their productions and are well in the thick of our rehearsal schedule. The enthusiasm and effort of the cast is outstanding (as well as the amount of gossip they are creating!). KEEP IT UP! Performers & Stage Managers- please keep Sunday 17th May free for our goodbye party and evaluation event and Sunday 24th May when we shall take a trip to Bath to see Julia’s (the Director) acclaimed production of ‘The Mozart Question’. More details to follow soon.
